Over a few beers with a couple of my Victorian "friends", the question of, what price would we put on Andrew McLeod, raised it's head.

Personally, I'd rate him behind Roo, Goodwin and Hart in value toward a premiership but for entertainment value to me he is almost priceless.

If Collingwood offered a straight swap for Buckley, would you take it? What about Voss?

Does the enjoyment value we get out of watching him play outweigh his market value?

I found it very hard to put a price on him. With most of our other players you can find someone to compare him with but Bunji is a bit special. Bearing in mind that for 15 of the 16 clubs our memories of a season revolve around our good wins and some great individual moments. It's these moments that we get great value out of Bunji.

FWIW my mates offered Richo or Ottens and I obviously told them to F*** O**.

I think if there ever is such a player as untouchable Bunji would be it. I heard Triggy say that there about 5 player at the club that the club would class as 'untouchable". I think it Bunji, Roo, Goody, Mr Reliableand probably Stevo.

HELL NO

You did the right thing:D

Same as Stiffy - Macca is untouchable. He's a sheer joy to watch with his magical abilities.

Richardson or Ottens .... pfttt!!! Not in the same league. Macca is in the best 5 players in the land.

You just don't swap those for anything.

Don't think he would ever be up for sale. Like Stiffy said, there's the emotional/history aspect. Feels like if we traded him, a part of the two flags which he such a big part of would be going with him, to me anyway,

Reckon thats the same deal with Voss. Buckley, IMHO, is in a lesser league to Macs, and besides 'Figgy' only has a couple or so years left anyhow, tops, methinks.

But hypothetically, if he could be swapped with any other player, only the very best would do eg. Voss, Black. In reality, he would never be traded

You have two midfielders that not only can contribute to winning games, but have proven again and again that they can turn games. McLeod and Roo. McLeod even more so.
You could argue that even though Goodwin was somewhat outstanding the whole night, it was McLeod that, for the nth time, eventually turned the game.
Untouchable.

No one is completely untouchable, but Macca is pretty damn close too it. I would hate to watch him in opposition colours & it would take an amazing offer for us to trade him (ie. would have to be ripping off the other team big time).

Andrew Mcleod is with out doubt a superstar definately one of the top 5 players in the AFL he is priceless and untouchable:D Macca will only ever wear the red, blue and gold hoops:D

Interesting debate.
He is a champion but what if the following were on offer:
Nick Riewald
Michael Voss - current AA captain
Matthew Primus - current AA vice captain
You would have to consider them ?

I think he will be a great player but having said that I still wouldn't trade McLeod. McLeod is a HUGE part of our culture and trading him would be like trading a BIG part ouf our culture. As Kane McGoodwin said, the team interested in bunji would have to be ripped off big time for us to consider a trade. Having said that, none of us would have tought Shaun Rehn would end up at another club but he did. If bunji decides he wants to leave then there is not much we can do about it, is there??????

untouchable

What a silly thread this is! As if we would ever trade our Magic Man? NOBODY is worth trading him for - not Voss, definately not FIG JAM Buckley, Black or don't make me laugh, Primearse!!!! He is Crow and will remain a Crow forever!

Actually I read a quote of Andrew's in todays paper and I think it sums it up perfectly:

"To come to Darwin and share my joy at playing in such a great side with the Darwin people is exciting to me"

A true gentleman!

xx

Nobody's really thinking about giving him up but we were talking about the old "I'll give you $1 million to sleep with your wife" question.

There must be a selling price. Jars 458 was ready to sell him for a couple of very good young'uns.

It he ever became aged and injury prone then I guess you'd have to consider trading him, if the "price" was right.

It wasnt that long ago that a few people on this board suggested we may have to give up a high calibre player to get the Duckster:(

They dont come any higher than McLeod for brilliance although I agree with Kerley in that he does go missing at times.
Incidentally, I dont think he will ever win a Brownlow Medal because of this trait

Whoever we swap for Bungi needs to have matchwinner written next to his name!

I would never want to trade Macca. I don't care if he goes walkabout in a game or not. The pleasure I get from watching this footy magician play has only ever been closely approximated by the wizardry of Darren Jarman, who also could go missing for periods.

But they both are/were match-winners including 2 grand finals.

Nope, you don't trade them.

Spot on again macca, match-winners/game-breakers are as rare as finals wins are for the Port Power, you don't trade them unless under extreme circumstances, we as a club are fortunate in that we have 2=bunji & the roo plus if Carey hits his straps he will make 3,

I wouldnt trade him for anything as he is a proven match winner and big occasion player.Definately in the top 3 players in the AFL.
