I'm making a banner for tomorrow's game against the Dogs and was just wondering how would I go about making a banner?
I've heard that cheer squads get a heap of tissue paper, criss-cross it and put tape over the top. Is this the same way the better looking supporter banners are done too?
Also, what would I use for the letters? Is it just felt that I could get from Lincraft or something else?
My banner would be about a metre wide and roughly the same height.
Any help would be much appreciated.

A banner using tissue (crepe paper) is the huge thing the players run through before the game (it doesn't last long). I suggest what your more after is a piece of material (old bed sheets can work) stretched between two peices of wood dowel (old broom handles can be cut down) you can then either buy textas, paint or another peice of material to cut out letters & either sew of glue them on. If you only want it for 1 game I suggest the texta option is quicker & chepaer but if you want something long term that looks good buy propper materials & get it all sewn properly. If you can't sew you could get a dressmaker to make it per your design.

A mate of mine made one for tomorrow's game as well, he had to construct the banner (just get the sheet and 2 poles) and he took it to an airbrush guy and he did the rest. It's bloody awesome :thumbsu: and for only $60!

But you obviously can't do that as it seems a bit late.

So in conclusion, I do not know.

Thanks so much for the newsy post, though.

When you hold your banner up, I hope you realise that everyone sitting behind you will hate you for blocking their view.
I won't be holding it up during general play.

 How so?

South Aussies aren't allowed to intrude?
It's OK. I'm Victorian so I can fend off any irate Dogs fans by showing them by Victorian drivers licence. Hopefully I will be clear of any danger. ;)

Ever heard of moving seats?

I told a kid to put his flag down 3 times before raising my voice and making sure he heard me. I don't have a problem with flag waving as long as it doesn't hit me and it's not flown when the ball is in play. I imagine the banner won't be held up unless a goal is kicked or a similar situation occurs.

Yeah of course the banner will only be held up when a goal is kicked and when the team comes out, and when we (hopefully) win. :thumbsu:
