Strategy How will these new rules affect us?

Favourably in both cases.

Cloke particularly is better suited in 1v1s than with extra men relatively and largely our players are good in the 1v1 contest so I like over the field, forward and back how that goes our way.

We've also a high volume and very good tackling team. With more holding the ball calls, more calls will relatively go our way in game, particularly with crowd superiority always swinging umpires judgement whether they are conscious of it or not.

If you look at the video of the new rules you will see that nothing has changed.
In the section where they show correctly interpreted rules from last year there appears one J.Sellwood.
The coaching expert says what he does to stop the Hawk from contesting the ball is fine. Then he even states that "there was a bit of an arm grab, but taking that out"........
Why would you take a clear rule violation out?
So, 2015 no different to 2014 and earlier.
J.Sellwood is a protected species.
Why don't they just enshrine that in the rules of the game?

We will continue to have less free kicks paid for us than most other teams, as has been the norm.

It's the free kick that aren't rewarded that pisses me off.
If Cloke got the same sort of protection as some one like Nick Reiwolt, he would end up with a shit load of goal opportunities from free kicks.

Or Pav! I've watched lots of 2014 games lately and cant get over the free kicks key forwards get when the same or worse happens to Cloke and he gets nothing. He gets killed when he goes near the ball.

I've been off work since mid July last year due to a back op, and have watched every game of the season at least twice.
Cloke definitely gets robbed compared to other big forwards.

Yeah usually I'm not on the bandwagon regarding the whole 'Collingwood get robbed in the free kicks' but Cloke is /always/ hard done by by the umps. I can understand his frustration, but I do think he lets it get a hold of him too much.

Wish they'd have pissed off the sub rule.

Worst rule change since the VFL made the soccer like out of bounds rule in the 40's.
The late 80s rule where if you got a free kick, it had to be a kick would be up there.
I've got footage of two players forgetting, and handballing...it went from a free kick to a ball up. Ridiculous.

That actually sounds putrid.

Both those should theoretically help us immensely.

Should help Cloke up forward. Down back we're fine. We barely double team anymore or are usually too slow to get the double team going anyway. As to the holding the ball, man, the number of times we've caught players red handed for it to be let go was beyond a joke. So both these rules should help us.
