Rudd seems like a nice guy, so good luck to him, I hope he does well for the nation.

Because if he doesn't then it's the country who will ultimately suffer.

I was a child in a potential war zone, and my parents took me from there through the correct channels and legally into Australia.

Considering the actual large amounts of money it costs to get onto a people smuggling boat I'm always amazed at how people try to equate alot of these 'boat people' as truly poor wretches when they obviously had the means by which to secure sufficient funds to make the trip.

Truly poor people don't have money for food let alone a 10k boat ride.

But you could have migrated someone closer, like say, England, Wales or Scotland. That's what the anti immigration mob say, why don't the refugees go somewhere closer like Singapore, Indonesia etc, instead of travelling further to Australia.

And for my parents that was the Australian culture.
