That trade took you from finals contenders to bottom 4 favourites next year, and tipped your rebuild over the 10 year mark.

He isn't a flight risk like Harley Reid. If the hype is justified in a season or two he'll just nominate which Vic club he wants and Lathlain will just have to do a deal.

One player won't fix Lathlain's problems, they run far deeper. Once he is in the big league he'll soon learn his little fend off won't work against the big boys.

Jackson most definitely is a flight risk. No Action’s already shown he’s willing to abandon his team at the drop of a hat for a better deal, and with Cockburn’s history of having local lads walk out the door it’s very likely he’d follow suit and keep the trend rolling if anyone’s in the market for a spare ruck. Harley seems a much more loyal type.

We don’t need Reid to fix anything, our main problem has been getting players on the park and if we can get a decent run on the availability front, he’ll be able to spend most of his time fending off small defenders around goals or on a flank without getting leaned on in the middle. We’ve got a deeper list than the other bottom of the ladder contenders like Cockburn, so if we can avoid another historical injury toll we should be fairing better than a few teams on the ladder next year.

Considering one D. Cox was playing in 2012 I’d hazard a guess Nic played similar ruck minutes as Jackson did in 2023. We all know NN was a generational tap ruckman, it’s just a pity he didn’t have a lot of other tricks.
And kicking one extra goal as deepest forward compared to a guy who plays CHF isn’t really much of an achievement.

I think Freo may be falling further down the ladder next season, they really had to play off in a final this year for Longy to get a pass and he failed. Sacked after round 10 is my best prediction at this stage.
