Stupid hey.
Exactly, it doesn't fit their narrative of us being a place nobody wants to be at either when they get told we have more players signed to long term deals than any other club in the league.

"But culture problems"

Yeah whatever you need to tell yourself to feel better mate.

Hmmmmmm how about Kelly on big money and all your draft picks for two seasons. You guys got sweet fa output for him. No wonder you guys suck
They were junk picks compared to what you gave up for Jackson, Masher. We didn’t miss out any Dan Curtin’s out there.

Kelly has been the only decent, reliable senior mid we’ve had over the last few years. If he had a good run alongside Naitanui, Shuey and Yeo things would’ve turned out a lot differently.

NFI as usual kid :$

Was it 14, a future first (ended up being 18), 24 and 33 + $800k a season?

I think it was. Their arrogance thought it would bring them a dynasty. Well it sort of did, a dynasty of being the worst AFL team ever.

Didn't it also help Geelong get Jeremy Cameron? Was this Elton John's doing or was someone else around then?

No matter how bad we've been at least we can never say we've fielded the worst team in competition history, that'll always be a West Coast accolade now.
Yeah but no supporter from WCE will care that much when we hoist the next premiership cup.

Freo supporters will be wringing their hands in anguish at still being flagless, however.

Next premiership cup? Not happening in your lifetime after another off-season of doing nothing to strengthen your list.

Freo managed the feat in 2001 and have never been headed. Even cheated your way to get there.

Topped it off by trading away Chris Judd for a couple of seasons worth of Trent Croad.

Nothing much has changed. You’re still the same basketcase you were all those years ago.

WCE average 1 every 12 years. I'm not that old.

Also. you clearly don't pay attention if WCE did 'nothing' to strengthen the list.

Perhaps Freo should try simply retaining players before potting another team who brought in the best talent in the country to theirs.

Fremantle? You mean the team that has more players inked to long term deals than any other team? But no, we're apparently struggling with list management, sure thing.

Fremantle's 2001 team would beat your 2023 team by 100 points and it's not even close, that team was bad, but none of your current list would get a game for that 2001 team.

We were on track to roll you guys this year before 5 guys went down and you managed to run over the top of us in the last quarter you realise.

And then later in the season we rolled you by 100 points.

Could've should've would've. You can dwell on what could have been, but you didn't.

You coulda shoulda won more games in your spoon year to avoid being the worst WA side in history, but you didn’t.

Let it be a lesson to you guys. You need to ensure you have a finals calibre team together when you start dealing in future picks so you can nab AA talent for a handful of junk picks, like we did in the Kelly trade. You also need to be able to afford to get them in without it costing you b22 players who play important roles for you. Also make sure you spend wisely on someone who fills a role which actually helps you win games.

Otherwise you can end up paying Dan Curtin type top end picks while watching required players win multiple finals in another team’s colours all for a spare ruck / crap forward, rocketing your club towards a decade long rebuild. :D

Stuffing your long-term list strategy to desperately keep some overrated spuds, whilst being a revolving door for players you actually need, isn't a list strategy to aspire to.

Good old Failmantle. The official “can’t get right” club of the AFL, bless their cotton socks.

A rare nail on head moment here for Suma. Although as usual, these moments only happen with the most common sense stuff where he parrots the opinions of every other footy person. Not really getting out on a limb here.

Wow, the kiddies are ready to rumble. Get the popcorn, has Sportsbet got a market? I’m backing Huskie to end it in the first. Bye bye Beverley.
