Nice try.:D

They have one great era (the 60's) where they dominated like no other team in US sporting history and one other era of note (the 80's) but they were overshadowed by the Lakers. Take away those two periods in their history and statiscally they are no better than the Knicks, which dozens of season mediocrity and few seasons of success. The Lakers may not have won as many titles as Boston but they have never had any extended periods were they have failed to make the playoffs and have managed to average a finals appearence every second season.

That is all that matters.

You don't get to pick and choose which parts of a clubs history don't count to suit your argument.

The most revered franchise IS Boston.

Also, even Boston fans don't celebrate their teams and success, they mourn their losses. Nowhere on the planet does such a congregation of negative people exist (maybe Cleveland or Richmond FC)

What bollocks.

Iv'e seen plenty of celebrations over the years going on.

NY owns the negative crown, always have. always will, it's the grumpy NY culture.

What you should have been saying though is nowhere in the NBA is there bigger fairweather, poser fans than in LA.

Except maybe the Clippers fans.

Oh I've said that about LA. they dont have anywhere near the diehards that Boston get.

Mind you, in LA the Lakers are the show to see. In Boston the C's play third fiddle to the Pats and Red Sox, and it shows.

Personally, I'm a fan of both teams. They're my two teams.

Karl I just saw the Mortal Kombat movie again, and it reminded me how awesome Mortal Kombat the game was back in the day.

And I will come perilously close to jacking off over Kitana tonight.

Successful, yes. Revered - no.

Nobody in the Laker's history is revered as much in the NBA as Red Auerbach.

And for every great Laker player there's and equal in Boston but with more rings on his fingers.

Some of the Laker's most storied players in Chamberlain, Baylor and West got their arses handed to them year after year.

Must be some teenage Aussie kid thing to revere the Lakers?

Not sure that anyone aside from Celtics or Lakers fans even thinks about who they 'revere' the most in the NBA matey.

Maybe other fans don't so much, but that's because their franchises don't have the history to compete.

But the NBA itself does.

It's why each year since the 60's the best coach steps up to collect the Red Auerbach trophy.

Because nobody else has had such a lasting legacy on the game as Red and his teams.

And aside from that they credit LA with 14 titles, but 5 were won by a team playing in Minneapolis.

Which makes the Boston Celtics even more dominant as a singular market club.

Can you put a number on that?

Can you put a number on the teams that could match the Laker's spending ability in the 80's?

Let me tell you the amount of teams that could is less than the number of teams that were in the NBA in the 60's :thumbsu:

So both franchises have somewhat meaningless wins. I can live with that.

I don't think they need to change their name. I do like the idea of changing their logo though.

I then think a clean out of the team is required. Trade Randolph, somehow. Trade Baron Davis. Trade one of Camby or Kaman. Go from there.

Camby has 2 yrs and 10million left on his contract. He should be VERY easy to move given his defensive prowess and contract. Randolph is almost impossible to move given his woeful contract. There just may be a team out there that might want his services if they don't have to give up anything of value.

A team of:

Baron Davis
Eric Gordon
Al Thornton
Blake Griffen
Kaman/Camby

isn't bad at all. They'd have loads of cap room to work with as well.

I know it's easier said than done but they gotta try that. Their current roster is a mess with poor balance and some bad bad contracts.

Oh and get rid of Dunleavy as coach.

Hows about:

Baron Davis
Al Thornton

for

Rudy Gay + Darko's shitty contract + Mike Conley?

who blinks first in that deal?

Conley
Gordon
Gay
Griffen
Camby/Kaman

they lose Baron's long contract. Gain youth, Darko and Camby's contract finishes in 2010.

Grizzlies turn into

Davis
Mayo
Thornton
PF
Gasol

not bad. Maybe sign a Rasheed Wallace in FA to fill that PF spot. Or resign Hakim Warrick.

Any way, Clips gotta try something.

Clippers have talent since about 2000 (their Odom, Brand, Miles, Q-Rich, Miller team looked AWESOME. I remember they beat the Lakers by about 40 in 2002 and it looked like a changing of the guard).

They have talent now, but it just doesnt mesh.

Davis is a streetballer. he likes coming down, go over a high pick and shoot a 3 off the bounce, but the coach likes using all 24 secs and calling a play every trip down.

Randolph is a halfcourt player who needs the ball. Just like Kaman. niehter are good defenders. And now they'll have Griffin down there

it just doesnt work.

And I though Randolph was impossible to move, but Portland did it, and then New York did it.

And Camby has 1 yr at about 9mil so I dont see them moving him unless they want a player coming back

Agreed.

I tell you a trade I really like for both teams.

Kirk Hinrich for Marcus Camby

contracts work.

Bulls have their PG of the future in Rose. They get to turn Hinrich's long term deal into an expiring contract with Camby.

I like Hinrich moreso than Baron Davis for a number of reasons. Allows them to move Baron for something else.

Baron needs to get to New York imo. Would be absolutely brilliant.

This trade works.

Baron (4 more years)

for

Wilson Chandler (expiring this year)
Larry Hughes (expiring after this year)

It would mean NY would have to be VERY creative if they want to clear space for LeBron. Im sure LAC would do it. It would make so much sense for NY if LeBron re-signs this offseason.

Isiah would have pulled the trigger on it
