I liked the vision at quarter time of the VFL clash at Coburg.
Yes folks, here was Damien Hardwick actually speaking with Liam McBean.
I bet the conversation went something like this .....
HARDWICK: "G'day young fella, I'm Damien Hardwick, the senior coach at Richmond."
McBEAN: "Hi, I'm Liam McBean, I've been on your list for four years now."
HARDWICK: "McBain you said?"
McBEAN: "No, McBean."
HARDWICK: "You're related to Laurie Keane you say?"
McBEAN: "No McBEAN ... McBEAN."
HARDWICK: "Anyways, thought I'd say hello and let you know it's a tough gig you have. We've got a bloke called Vickery carving them up in the ones, so you'll have your work cut out getting a game up at Richmond."
McBEAN: "I figured as much."
HARDWICK: Anyways, best of luck today, Leon."
McBEAN: It's Liam .. LIAM."
HARDWICK: Woops sorry, Leigh. All the best Leigh."

He has you fooled like Ellis had people fooled last year.... Good for you
I like honest footballers who have consistent effort.
Well he's had me fooled for a long time then, not just this year.
You can't much more honest and consistent.

Do you realize how ordinary Mcbean is? It's what's let Ty Vickery float through without any competition for his spot.
People need to stop ****ing deluding themselves I've seen more than enough of Mcbean live and it's just not going to happen.

Hang on dude. I mean however ordinary Bean is surely it can't "hurt" us to see it first hand. I mean we are shit so a couple of rungs lower on the shit ladder means SFA in relative terms. No I take that back. It's a no brainer to actually roll the dice with Bean because he is either shit or not and that at least gives us a chance to find a plus. To continue obstinently along the same path and getting the same result and not seeking an alternative is ****ing ludicrous and a sure sign that we have a pack of incompetents at the helm who have NFI outside their idea. But wait I would go as far as to say someone with NFI might be a better option than our coach and his offsiders who have their idea that is flawed but don't want to accept it is. Someone with NFI might actually fluke it so even they are a better option

I'm not arguing that Cogga, I agree get him out there now and put everyone out of their misery he either is or he isn't.
I think I'm just over hearing about how there are favorites on the list. That's the silliest thing I ever read and I have been reading since I first logged onto BF. There has been dozens of these hard done by players and they all end up the same, they were never any good.
Yep let's get him out there because he's a waste of a spot at the moment so let's tick or flick.
Because our development seems non existent we hang onto blokes for ridiculous amounts of time almost hoping against hope that something will just happen magically.
Look at Elton??? **** me!

I'd be the first to say move McBean on if he was given six or seven games and wasn't up to it.
At some point you need to roll that dice.
But the eternal optimist Hardwick will continue to delude himself that we are turning this around and are finals bound and he won't take a punt.
I think a part of him is scared that 'what if this McBean guy proves me wrong and plays good senior footy and I haven't considered him for four years'.
Watching the Twos yesterday McBean didn't exactly set the world on fire but he still managed to eek out 15 disposals in, to use a Dimwit-ism 'was not a great day for tall forwards'.
How is it that people can line up in defence of that statue Vickery by saying it doesn't matter that he only gets 4 kicks, he averages his 1.7 or 1.5 goals a game and that's a great return.
Why is it that McBean has to carve it up and dominate, but can't just contribute 1.5 goals a game.
The rubbish disposal tossed up by the Tiger Twos would be a nightmare for a forward.
Give the kid a crack. With Griffiths injured here's a perfect opportunity. But I'll bet we recall Maric to play as a forward.

Im not against giving him a crack, I just know what's going to happen though.
Poor kid will get slaughtered in here when the reality sets in such is the myth that has been created.

How about he takes the next 11 games as an opportunity to see what those "players we have seen little of and players we have yet to see" can actually do.

but its important to lose by less playing the tried and tested duds rather than playing the kids and losing by more

I would suggest if Hardwick came out and said we're going to give McBean a good block of 5-6-7 games, there'd be a fair bit of excitement about the place from fans. Which, let's be honest, is sorely lacking right now. I always have been and always will be a Tiger and go every week I can, but ask the question what genuinely excites you about us now? Maybe Rioli in three years time is something to look forward to.; Maybe how good Dusty might become; Jack's continued tireless efforts (which have become the norm). There is a distinct lack of buzz and excitement about this time. McBean would be something to look forward too.

maybe it's the Richmond pessimist in me but I'm more dreading it than looking forward to it.
I've seen in here players get turned on within a half of footy.
If and when he does play he's going to be one of these blokes that barely touches it at times, he will be pushed aside easily and he will be left for dead at times on the rebound, it'll be like Ty but worse.
I'm not trying to be critical of him before the fact I'm just painting a picture and our fans just don't have the patience for it, they'll expect him to be a star.
We have so many under developed players and I'm not sure if it's more beneficial being groomed through the twos the way he has or been thrown to the wolves Rioli style.

We made alot of errors, our ball use come back to haunt us and our goal kicking and Norfs rabies infected players because they were playing Richmond.
No shit sherlock? We make alot of errors and our ball use is shit and our goal kicking doesnt deviate the only reason we nab 4 points every now and then is purely because the opposition had enough of an off night, totally shit, you name it it went wrong game and we win. We are shit and if we play a shitter team we are a chance The ****ing End!!

I'm still excited.
It excites me now that I can focus on Carlton because they are starting to believe again so its with excitement I wait for the crushing reality to hit them now.
Got to enjoy something!

Hear hear!

Every story needs a good villain, and the better the villain, the better the story. I just can’t hate Norf like I hate those cheating bastards.

I think he has another gear for AFL, only gets into second in VFL

Jayden Post has another gear as well he just needs 5-6 games............

The whole game plan is about not losing, not about winning, it's a risk mitigation game plan, the flair has been coached out of the players, I don't for one minute believe we have no talent, we have holes in the list but we are not a bottom 4 side, the signs have been there. Move the dud on

Judging by your football assessment of Grigg, Mcbean could be anything?

I genuinely had a conversation like this at Coburg with Todd Elton.
No bs

You're actually sounding silly now.

Griggs stats are not dis similar to Ellis this season and amazingly over their careers, we all know about Ellis fooling people with stats and I believe Grigg is very similar to Ellis, both soft, both poor under pressure, both turn over merchants and both down hill skiers...

Grigg is bigger, taller and has 100 games or do more up his sleeve over Brandon and yet both should be playing VFL.
