For all of last season and for the majority of this season I have been calling for his head. And i doubt that i was the only one. Had not offered enough to the team and could not justify a reason to still be on the list. A list clogger......

But his last month has been sensational. He has certaintly turned my face red with a big backhand and shut-up! letting his football doing the talking. One of the key reasons why the club is improving and if he continues will be pushing for top3 B & F.

So to you Mr Andrew Welsh I Apologise...... Sorry

I must admit i was in this boat as well. He simply wasn't being that effective as part of our running game plan down back and was being let down by his kicking skills and up forward wasn't really getting into the game enough. But wow has he turned it around since being moved to these tagging roles in the midfield. Has been in great form on some of the competitions best in the last few weeks and has finally found a role in which his hardness and effort can be rewarded and can benefit the team. All of a sudden i feel quite confident when i hear Welsh has been moved onto their firing midfielder because at least you know he will give his all.

McPhee took his spot up forward, so he needed a new role - as his work down back was not good enough and the midfield was his only option - has surprised me with his work - as long as he just plays that negating role - he is well playing awesome footy as a tagger.

Have to say that whilst i was always a Welsh fan in his early days down back, was finding it hard to see where he could fit into this new game plan either up forward or down back. He has always been a fierce competitor and i just love his new role and most importantly the way he has taken to it like he has played there for years. He has been one of the best taggers in the AFL in the last month and has found plenty of footy himself. Way to go Welshy.

His career almost seemed to plateau since 2003 after emerging so promisingly. Always respected his hardness and the way he goes about it so didn't want him traded but I didn't think he could play like this in the middle.

Great effort :thumbsu:

Seems to be another player that has blossomed under Knights. Welsh, Lonergan, Hille, Monfries and the list goes on of players that have shown a considerable amount of progression. :thumbsu:

While we're on the subject of apologising......

Stants has had a good month. I was critical of his lack defensive pressure, particularly his tackling. He had another 9 tackles last night and is probably our leading tackler this year.

Oh, and his disposal has improved. His goal kicking has been first class this year.

Well done and sorry Stants. :thumbsu:

Welshy,Stanton,Jobe,Jetta,NLM,Nash,Monfries and Hille have all improved in the last 5 weeks compared to their sh-t first 6 weeks of the season.

Hope they can continue it on......

i think he was good last year as a negating forward but this year he has been truly excellent as a tagger and as some one else sais he has become similer to cameron ling and kane cornes where they tag but they get a fair bit of the ball too! he has been on the verge of delistment (if thats a word) and has comeback and proven the footy world wrong!:)

Great mind by Knighter to throw him right into the mix, to shut down the games' elite.
He is a totally different player and seems to be loving the role.

For all those years Sheedy used him off half back, or the occasional forward role........what a waste.

This is a guy who was a so-so player, going nowhere, not tradable, and not bad enough to be one of 4 or 5 guys we'd delist every year.

He's now becoming, or already become, a vital part of our side.

All of our young guys have improved even more under Knights. At least he doesn't bring them in like Sheedy did give them one game and drop them again. They lose their confidence doing this and Knights has given them all a fair shot and been dropping the older guys!

I've always had a soft spot for Welsh for some unknown reason. Just liked him since day one, he's hard at it. I'm really happy that he's found a new role and doesn't look to be facing the same fate as pev and JJ (other favorites of mine) just yet. Has been dominant in the resurgence and really served it up to mitchell, priddis, judd, black amongst others. Well done Welsh, you're importance to the team has never been clearer than it is now.
One question though... how in the hell did sheedy miss the talent here? why on earth was he a small back pocket/half back defender for so long? lol
Keep up the good work mate and cheers to all the bombers supporters who have stood by him and even bigger cheers to those who are admitting they were wrong about him.

Always liked him, always respected him, have always thought he was one of our automatic selections as he'd perform consistently every game.

But he's now found levels of footballing awesomeness which have been great to watch :) A tagging role that hurts the opposition offensively... that's awesome.
