If Collingwood can do unto the Bulldogs as we did unto Carlton... then we get to claim 4th position on the ladder.

I'm definitely going to be barracking for Collingwood, but I'll be feeling like I've soiled myself the whole time.

Thanks to Riggy for providing the margins:
If Bulldogs score 0 Collingwood need 73
If Bulldogs score 10 Collingwood need 82
If Bulldogs score 20 Collingwood need 90
If Bulldogs score 30 Collingwood need 99
If Bulldogs score 40 Collingwood need 107
If Bulldogs score 50 Collingwood need 116
If Bulldogs score 60 Collingwood need 124
If Bulldogs score 70 Collingwood need 133
If Bulldogs score 80 Collingwood need 141
If Bulldogs score 90 Collingwood need 150
If Bulldogs score 100 Collingwood need 158
If Bulldogs score 110 Collingwood need 167
If Bulldogs score 120 Collingwood need 175
If Bulldogs score 130 Collingwood need 184
If Bulldogs score 140 Collingwood need 192
If Bulldogs score 150 Collingwood need 201

Hard to see the Doggies getting pumped but Collingwood can get on a bit of a roll when they get on top of a side. Pies have been in better form than the last time they met, so you never know.

Best of luck with the finals.

It's amazing how that works, that the greater the Bulldogs score, the lesser their losing margin has to be for us to take their place.

It's because of the simplicity of the AFL % calculation - their total score for the year over the total score of all opponents for the year.

If it were being done under the more complex SANFL way it would be the opposite - the more the Bulldogs score the more they'd have to lose by.

Go Pies!!

If you're feeling dirty Vader, I've just come in from a good roll in the pig trough and I'm feeling filthy...................

Er... no - it would be exactly the same, down to the margin.

AFL % = (Points For / Points Against) * 100
SANFL % = (Points For / (Points For + Points Against)) * 100

In both cases, your percentage for any points differential is maximised when the Points Against is 0. In the same way, your percentage is minimised when the Points Against is as high as possible.

Since we're trying to minimise the bulldogs score, the margin required becomes less as the scores increase.

/Year 8 maths lesson

I got roundly slammed last not wanting to finish 4th and probably lose 2 finals But it's a different feeling this year. However, wouldn't that put us in Collingwoods side of the draw if the Crows jag a spot in a prelim?

The AFL's percentage system rewards more for holding your opponents to a lower score ie winning 50 to 30 (167%) in the wet is worth far more percentage than winning 120 to 100 (120%).

I was guilty of wanting the same thing this year (and was also roundly slammed :o) - but that was before St kilda faltered and became more human!

Welcome to the darkside

Considering watching the blues get humiliated is always good I love to repay the favour I'm just not that confident

I will be barracking for the Doggies whilst the margin is < 30 points, but as soo as the margin > 30 points I will switch alegiences like a certain port poster.

Feeling dirty is for the greater good!!!

Karma coming back from last year? We deserve it dammit!

But Dog's won't lose by as much as we need them too. they will lose by 4 goals tops :o

Sorry but how do you deserve it. We have been the better side for majority of the year. You deserve 5th but not 4th i mean come on.
