there are other teams?
After such a promising start, and not getting ahead of myself. One game has turned our season to sh**!

Put those missing players on the ground last week and I honestly feel we had Geelong.

Add to that the suspensions and we probably would have beaten the deoggies too. However now we have a hard run and he even season I can see us dropping well out of the 8.

This is just so heartbreaking!!!

Have faith mate! We'll be alright! Fletcher, Mcveigh, Winderlich will be back next week to face the pies. We are only 1 game out of the top 4.

We can still make the Eight, but we now have an uphill battle but in saying this Stanton will be better for the run, Monfries showed what a break can do, we get Flect and McVeigh back, Rama played well tonight I guess we can moan the lost but we are not far away from the Eight.

Im tipping we'll slowly begin to slide down the ladder. We're up against sides really pushing hard to consolidate a top 4 spot and we're merely trying to survive and fall into the 8. 4 more wins would be a blessing, but with Port mounting their challenge for a finals spot....our task becomes a whole lot more difficult.

We seriously need a win in the next fortnight or our season is over.

As if we were going to make the 8. Luckily we snuck in against Melbourne, that would have definitely been season over, and possibly Sheedy's head. We've done well to win 8 games, albeit some lucky ones, and we played exceptionally against Geelong for 3 quarters. The loss to Carlton though was disgraceful.

We'll probably finish 10th which is where I would have expected. I said 10th-11th before the season started.

watched you last night, when all your stars retire like Hird, Lloyd, Fletcher, Lucas, Johnson's what's going to become of your team???! The kids don't look crash hot, and your midfield is pedestrian.

just an observation from a neutral viewer, so don't crack the sads.

It's a fair point but there's still a lot of water under the bridge before they're all gone. Fletch, Lucus and Lloyd still have up to 3 years each in the game.
The midfield is slowly getting better (someone has to teach Stanton how to kick) which is good. Essendon's problem is that woeful drafting has left us without the 26-29 y/o players that should be the core of the team.

One thing that bugs me is that people still include the Johnsons in that list, when the truth is since 2005 their output has been very ordinary. MJ gets beaten nearly every week in defence (last night was one of his few wins this season that i can recall) and JJ just butchers his disposal far too much and undoes most of his own good work. These guys were the core of our engine room for plenty of years and they have left plenty of great memories but the game has just about passed them by.

I don't think KPP's will be our immediate concern in the next few years. We still have Gumbleton to take up a key forward post and Ryder can play KP. Neagle if he ever gets injury free may be a good prospect as well. Guys like Kepler, Johns may still come good as well. Although i do concede we probably need to find another Key Position Defender in the next year to start developing.

Our midfield still doesn't have the right balance though of speed, skills and inside players. It seems we have too many slow inside players that have poor disposal, and we are really lacking the skillful type midfielders. I think whilst the side we played today was somewhat slow, once you add Winderlich back and Dempsey ultimately it should turn out reasonable.

I think that's a fair point and I agree with you, but I feel like cracking my own sads after last night.
