I just can't bring myself to follow a game that is so easily affected by the umpires week in week out. If Connolly doesn't come out and absolutely let rip at the umpires after this performance I have lost all respect for him.

Just like the team amd the club hey, pathetic.

You can't just blame the umpires. Even with their woeful performance we could have won this game. Connolly is as much to blame as the umpires. I said it last year and I was ridiculed for my comments. I saw Freo's second half of 06 as bittersweet as I knew it would take the heat off Connolly and I feel as though he deserved the heat. He is too slow to react and far too soft on the players who aren't performing. To have this list and play so poor is just not acceptable. I am really pissed off about this.

Gee wiz same **** new thread the players are to blame for some undisciplined acts ie:Gilmore. *** it was a good game we started slowly and the bombers are a good side.

Absolutely robbed. It makes me so mad. It seems like this always happens when we play the bombers. We should have won. Commentators don't even mention it. The only mention it got was an uncomfortable silence. Don't blame the players we won that game.

I think we played really well.

Its like the game last year where we lost but CC said he saw good signs and we all thought yeah right... but then we went on a run.

Bring on the eagles.

Agree 100%.

The other problem is that we are traditionally slow off the blocks. Before we realise the siren's gone and the whistle has been blown, the opposition often has 2 goals on the board. Then we need to catch up before we can think about getting ahead. Happens over and over again.

I agree. I don't think we played badly. Skill errors in the first quarter, when we could have been with them, or even slightly ahead, hurt us badly. Then the umpires kicked in.

Last week I was pissed off because we rolled over and played like crap in the second half. This week my anger is towards the inexplicable decisions that resulted in a number of goals to them.

Pav's miss, with 5 to go, that would have brought us back to 10 points down, hurt too. He'll be really, really dark on himself I reckon. :(

We did play badly, however our bad was better than Essendons great. They got around 30 points from 50m and free kicks which weren't there. To say that the umpires didn't GIVE them this game is not facing the facts. Take away even half of those 30 points they were wrongly given and we would have won.

Something needs to be done about those ****ing umpires. But yes something also needs to be done about our teams woeful midfield and jogging behind their opponents to let them take easy marks.

Umpiring probably cost us 2-3 goals, but we should still have won. They got the ball up the ground from half back way too easily. It would be interesting to know how many goals they got from kicking in from a behind without us touching it, just a total lack of pressure.

I've been a big critic of Connolly in the past, but he didn't get a lot wrong today. Should have done more to contain McPhee, but most of the match ups were correct. If he comments on the umpires he will look like a sore loser. The thing Connolly could be blamed for is our lack of urgency last week and in the first quarter today. Some players just want to cruise around in 2nd gear, motivation seems to be an issue.

We have won a lot of games where we have been beaten out of the centre. We dominated the clearances in the last 3 quarters, and our defenders played well on their 3 big names. We should have won.

No need to panic yet. This was always going to be hard to win against 25 men.

There was still a lot to like , especially the was they fought it out.

Turnovers killed us at crucial times, and they were more accurate shooting for goal.

The defense is just too leaky at the moment as well.

Seems to be a fairly regular thing.

I hope the club is working out of the media spotlight to do something about this.

There wasn't much to like at all, except Sandilands, Tarrant and Pavlich. However I still think a lot of our players are underdone compared to last season. Why are they letting their opponents run loose? You can see them constantly making the decision to let their opponent run off them and mark. That's a lazy team, and probably partially due to not being fit enough.

Our bad almost beat a bottom 8 team, but yeah, why are we playing bad? Why are our midfielders so shocking at disposal and can barely hit a barn?

Pavlich missing that goal was really...... disappointing... but it's hard to fault him when hes one of our best 3.

Give it until round 6 to be arrogant about other teams. There is no reason to judge any teams 2007 form on what happened last year.

We actually gave the Bombres a better contest today than Adelaide did last week in Adelaide.

You do know how laughable that sounds right? We gave the bombers a good contest did we? That's all I want from Freo, as long as we can give a great team like them a good contest, that's all we can ask for...

Certainly not panic stations, but we considered ourselves top 2 a fortnight ago. We certainly havn't played like a top 2 side so far, and poor umpiring shouldn't let the team off the hook.

We often fight back with 2 or 3 minutes to play when the opposition takes their foot off the pedal.

Might watch the tape just to see how many goals came from turnovers, skills were shocking. We allowed them to carry the ball through the corridor too often aswell.

Grover and McPharlin played well I thought. Parker got beaten on the lead by Laycock a few times which is a real concern. Mundy's playing lazy footy.

I think a lot of them have believed the hype over summer, and expect to cruise into the finals. It would be a good time to make 3 or 4 changes, but unfortunately we don't have the cattle available.

Peake may have a broken collar bone.

So you reckon it wasn't a good game? It looked to me that they fought it out right to the end against the Bombres.

Even though we lost it _WOULD_ have been a good game if those maggot umpires didn't clearly favour Essendon. Both teams played rather open footy and despite our poor disposal the Sandi/Pav/Tarrant combo was good to watch (as well as the Essendon players burning us off at speed, all good to watch). The umpires ruined it personally for me, there is no excuse for their poor behaviour.
