This guy is the worst AFL commentator ever.

I HATE his laziness - he can't be bothered doing any research to find out how a player's name is pronounced

Raffarl Clarke, Nick Hayne are two examples that immediately come to mind. He is an idiot.

I cringe every time we have a twilight match on Sunday.

His commentary style is pathetic, he favours the West Australian teams in any situation especially umpiring decisions, making out the home team is being hard done by. He tries to create controversy where there is none. He claims he is trying to make it interesting for the fans - but really which fans would be taken in by his drivel.

We have tried running the commentary from the computer using the audio links, but there is like a 2 second time differential so we gave up on it.

We often resort to turning the commentary off altogether for various lengths of time. This is not what I pay good money for my Foxtel subscription.

In fairness, i think he says raffarl just as a bit of a joke or whatever, and I dont even know how to prounence3 Heyne's name, and to be fair, he isnt exactly a superstar of the game that BT should know.

I dislike him at times for his stupiditity and total bias towards Collingwood. It's disgusting

I actually like BT. Sure he can be an idiot at times with his vortex theories lol and astronomical forces but he can be very exciting to listen to when its a good game. When the saints were flying he was getting very excited about the whole frontal pressure thing.
We all have our commentators that we hate, for mine its Malcolm Blight, I can't stand his stupid idiotic special comments I mean that guy has to be dummber than Sam Newman.

Couldnt agree more!!!! I cant stand this arrogant prick watching you guys play the eagles on sunday was so infurating listen to the big ugly ape go on and and on about the shape of the footy and his vortex theories was so f***n annoying he used to be a good caller a couple of years ago but i think he starterd to believe his own hype and now hes just a moron!! His bias towards collingwood has became laughable and his comments on 3aw about the geelong/collingwood game made him sound like a complete tool

I actually don't mind him, he can be pretty funny at times and adds a lot of excitement to his calls. Technically he can be a bit sloppy with providing accurate information, doing his research and pronouncing players names properly but that doesn't bother me all that much. I'd prefer a funny, exciting commentator like BT to a technically perfect, well researched dull commentator like McAvaney.

I don't find him too biased towards the WA teams either, certainly not as bad as Glen Jakovich who really is an annoying commentator with the way he constantly gets tongue tied trying to explain things and is like a cheerleader for the WA teams.

The worlds worst AFL commentator is DWAYNE RUSSELL. He acknowledged in a recent radio interview his dislke for St Kilda, can you believe that? One of his comment s that sticks in the mind is when Gears had a possession and he mentioned that there might still be a knife in the back of the number 14 jumper he was wearing. I mentioned this to Ross and his response was, ''Yeah I heard that, a $590,000 knife''.
Second worst is ROBERT WALLS. no explanation needed there!

Yeah I can't listen to him when he calls our games. If he's on our match and its the radio I'll just switch. Foxtel should be more professional than having this Collingwood goon and his biased commentary. One of the worst calls I've ever heard the whole Eagles game... I hate this guy.

He was so flat at the end of the 3rd quarter too then the eagles get an inside 50 and he has an orgasm

Walls & Lane (and Andy Maher on the boundary) on a Saturday night are my most hated combination...especially if Carlton is playing. Then, the bias is unbearable.

I cannot stand listening to him!!! Listening to the bombers game I thought great Hird will be totally biased but know he was actuallyu really good and BT was totally biased. Saints cannot do one good thing in that guys eye. He goes on and on about free's paid against the other team but not once says "that should have been played to saints" or "that was a bit of a soft free played to Hillel" etc. No comment about all Nic Nat's hands all over our players backs either

I hate the constant whinging about the umpiring, it's all too easy to do it in a warm commentary box with multiple camera views and instant replay

I believe he has won the most popular commentator award for the past three seasons Kildonan so plenty of people do rate him.

I actually enjoy his commentary as well although I would concede that I prefer listening to him when it's not St Kilda playing because he adds a bit of entertainment to a match where I don't have a vested interest in.

It was Jako who seemed the most biased to me. In the last quarter he was trying to compare the free kick given to McEvoy in front of goal to the one not given to the Eagles down the other end a couple of minutes later.

He kept going on about how minor the hold was but if he'd bothered to watch the replay he would have seen the Eagles defenders with his hands all over Maccas face. That's why the free kick was given you twit.

Wowee

He is certainly not the best TV commentator but I think his work on radio is fantastic. Haven't heard too much of his 3AW commentry this season as I am a Triple M man myself, but last year some of his work was great listning. Gets so fired up and its border line hilarious during play. Anzac Day game 2009 stands out for me the most.

I'm with sainter on this, I thought Jakovich was unbearable to listen to. While watching the game with my girlfriend, we both noted how biased he was, and that McEvoy passage in the final quarter made it even worse. I don't like Brian Taylor either, but I don't mind him unless it is a Collingwood game.

Whilst he is generally recognised as a good commentator, its solely based on his direct commentary. As soon as he begins to talk about his opinions on the game, whether that be about umpiring decisions or a teams gameplan he begins to lose credibility.

OP probably started this thread because BT is and always has been quite biased against St.Kilda. He's always looking for ways to shoot us down and stick the boots in.

Back in 2006 after we lost to the dees in the elimination final, I still remember him declaring that we were finished and our window had completely shut, then went on to say it was time for a rebuild. This was all while praising the demons for their "vast" young talent, even though it was only one young player that really showed anything that night (of course he was referring to Brock McLean that night). 4 years down the track and the dees have won 2 spoons whilst we played in a grand final and will challenge again this year..

The guys a good commentator, but his views on footy are moronic.

Pretty harsh calling BT biased brothers.

If you go back and listen to the incident Sainter referred to, he says to Jakovich "I'm hearing an upset Eagle fan".

I love BT. Easily the best play by play commentator on Foxtel.

BT is definitely one of the better commentators around at the moment. I quite like watching games he is commentating. However, i cannot stand when he does St. Kilda games when he continues to call us "Sant Kilda." Otherwise, he beats most of the commentators going around at the moment.

I enjoy listening to BT, one of my fav commentators to listen to. I guess everyone has their tastes in what a commentator should possess in terms of style and tone.

For the most part, fox sports has the best commentators. Way ahead of Ch.10 + Ch.7.

That was gold, everyone burst out laughing when he came up with that... it was about time someone put Jako back in his place.

BT. Massive tool in the Rex Hunt mould. It's all about them. Best commentators in the business are Tim Lane and Glen Mitchell (oh, how great it is to finally be able to listen to games from WA now). For them, it's all about the footy.

And in summer Mitchell and Kerry O'Keefe are the funniest double act going around.

Most commentators are lazy these days. Always getting their stats wrong and calling players the wrong names. I think Commetti said before the Carlton game that Kosi, Goddard and Milne hadn't kicked a goal between them against Port despite Milne kicking a contender for goal of the year.

Matthew Lloyd is undoubtedly one of the most biased commentators going around.

Jack Riewoldt received a free kick in front of goal at the opening bounce of the "dreamtime" Essendon VS Richmond clash because Tayte Pears was getting stuck in to him.

Lloyd then jumps to the defence of Pears and said as a matter-of-factly that the umpires had got it wrong because Riewoldt was trying niggle Pears' hand (Pears had just come back from a broken hand).

Sounded like an over protective father :o
