One thing I remember from my early childhood is having softdrink delivered to our house like once a week by this truck. Can't for the life of me remember what it was called though  Was around the late 80s/early 90s. It came in glass bottles that might of been reused...

Marchants anyone?

Ah yes, Export Cola, I drank gallons of it

Doctor Peppa

My dad had an uncle that worked in the Marchants factory in Sydney many years ago. His job was to go around every morning with a pool scoop type thing and scoop out the dead rats floating on top of the vats.

Slades they were called in melbourne. I know some naughty kids, who used to nick the money that people left out with the empty bottles. I wasn't one of them of course.

Tresca.

Can anyone remember Export Cola?

I remember Leeds Lemonade, Halls, Torino (someone elses already mentioned) Mello Yellow.
I'm getting old.
Still mourning the demise of Halls here, overtaken by Kirks. :(
Their pineapple mineral water, and original Fruita were bloody sensational.

Worse still, the vultures are hovering over Woodrooffe's.
We've already lost Big Sars and Wild Berry.

Yeah well in NSW we lost our friggen state drink. Kirks bought up shelleys.

"Get stuck in to a shelleys cause its our-state-drink"

We had, I think, the only Schweppes factory in the state located straight across the road here in a small inner-city back street.
It was there from about 1972/73 up until about 10 years back, and I remember the giant walls of firstly wooden crates that were stacked 25 feet high in the air, and later the bright yellow plastic ones.
The factory was very large, and had to have these enormous fences to keep the local kids out from stealing the glass bottles.
There used to be a deal whereby, if you had enough (say 8 bottles) you got a free glass bottle of Schweppes drink in return, by returning them firstly to the company, the practice was abandoned on 16/11/1977 (I've still got the sign in my backyard) and later at the shops.
There used to be teams of kids scaling the high fences grabbing bottles and passing them down to their mates, then climbing back up and repeating the process.
It was a wonder more kids weren't hurt trying that caper.

All this talk of drinks is making me thirsty. I think I'll order a Tab.
Oh god yes, I remember Tab...lol
I remember it tasted like sugary water, I can partly remember the jingle on TV and I also remember the huge Tab billboard that hung on the side of the old Chinaman's store on the corner of Elizabeth & Lefroy Street North Hobart back in the 70's - that place is now demolished and is now a restaraunt called Fish.
Talk about a walk down memory lane, it's reminding me just how old I'm getting...LOL

Tarax never went away, they just changed the receipe, it's not as crisp as it used to be.

I know of 2 in Adelaide in the 70s Loys and another... and so bad is the memory of my stepfather that I have forgotten the name even though he drove for them.

We used to pinch them out of the back of the truck

Yep!! That's the one. :p :thumbsu:
That was probably a 20 foot high billboard, and probably the only wall around here that wasn't damaged or graffiti'd back in those days.
The whole area was a sh*t-tip back then.

Just remembering Coke and Fanta in the small bottles or the big 1 litre glass bottles and you used to get 20c down at the recycling centre for them.

TAB, Fruita, Leed, Woodroofe, Hall's going to the deli and taking a $1 and getting a huge bag of lollies, hubba bubba ahhhhhhh those were the days, or I would spend all summer long trying to get all the stickers for the cricket book and trying to get those prized gold stickers:p
