I haven't seen him in the WAFL so didn't know much about him and what I saw against the Hawks and in the first quarter yesterday didn't impress me much but after half time he seemed to find the pace of the game and started to show why he's so highly rated. A smooth mover indeed!

You will be won over when he starts slotting goals from 55 mts out wide off either foot like he does for EF on occasion.
 
He always seems to look better with us than in the WAFL, which is a good sign. We seem to have few that are good WAFL players but struggle to adjust in the AFL.

Ibbo should be persevered with at the top level, that's where he'll develop best.
 
The guy is all class. Is very good on both sides of his body and often appears to have more time that he does.

I have been saying it for 2+ years, the guy is a major upgrade to Peake
 
The interesting point about Ibbotson is that despite him being picked up in the 2005 draft and being at the club for what is now his third year he is still only 8 months older than Mayne and a year older than Palmer. So you would think he'd still have a fair bit of development ahead of him. He can only get better:thumbsu:

I think Ibbo was the youngest player taken in 2005. Mayne sat out 2006 even though he was eligible, and nominated in 2007. Palmer I think was overlooked in 2006, making him one of the "older" 18 year olds when he was picked up by us last year.
 
After last weeks EF game I was very critical. I cut him some slack for the Hawthorn game but against Peel he was drifting around doing SFA of the hard stuff and got beaten easily in contested ball by slower players.

Good signs today though and definately can be kept in the team as a straight swap for Peake (which I was in favour of before as well).

Very promising. The tall explosive well skilled mid that we've never had. Looks fine in contested situations as well, unlike Peake.

Might be early but he has a bit of Kouta about him with the height, speed, skill he's got.

Was very nervous against Hawthorn and at the start against Crows but was great by the end last week - in an away game (our guys have generally had a history of disappearing away from home, so Palmer, Hinkley, Ibbotson and Drum look the goods so far).

The more he plays, the better he will get and the more confidence he will get to do the things like kicking goals from outside 50 either side of his body.

The future of our midfield is very promising, every single young player looks promising, we just need to top up again at next years draft to get some extra depth.
 
I am almost at the point of apologising to the guy to his face after his last quarter efforts v Adelaide...very impressed...even snuck him in for a vote :thumbsu:

MASSIVE game for him this week v Cats...as he has played 2 shockers at Subi Oval....hopefully he backs himself & takes the players on & shows the awareness that he did v The cows
