Idea for logo tweak

Get rid of the orange and replace it with royal blue
this is something I made up real quick, what do you think?

don't like colours in the logo that don't belong to the club. The orange probably looks a bit better, but this is more WCE

It looks horrible, even Mr E agrees the logo needs ochre.

The only way to have a good logo with only blue and gold is to change it completely.

I agree that the current logo isn't the best, but paintbucket won't fix those problems

my problem with our current logo is

1) logos are often used at small sizes and viewing our logo as a thumbnail, over half is taken up by the wing. our focus has always been that eagle head logo and its needs to be more focused on that. the width of our logo compared to heigh makes it a nightmare to use too

2) the font used for the type. its far too elegant rather than sporty and word eagles is far too small.

excuse the rant, im an art director and my pet hate is bad logos or moreso, logos that can do with improving

I actually like it. Especially if I had never seen the other logo first, so I didn't have that weird feeling that something looks 'wrong'.

rather just bag someone else's idea i decided to re-jig our logo.
it would need more work but i think it still carries everything we have had as a logo in the past.
now though it is more punchy and can be viewed and used on all sizes and platforms.
you may also recognise the font ive used.... its our old font we used on the logo and the jumpers!

thoughts?

I don't mind that logo with royal blue rather than orange but it doesn't look as good as the current one. How about if the two blue sections were reversed with the predominant colour being royal?

put the west coast above the eagle head and leave the eagles under and it could be a winner.

Ochre actually is one of our colours...

If it's on the jumper permanently (the eagle on the chest, and it has been for a decade), and in our logo, it's one of our colours.

Apologies in advance to our resident Ochre Lovers Club CEO Coxy, but I'm somewhat of a traditionalist (when it comes to our beloved club, I do think sex before marriage is a great idea and women can make the first move now..

). In all seriousness, since the 2000 (with the exception of 2006) it seems that our clubs has had a mish-mash of identities, Ochre, Tri-Panel, Peril etc. No real constant where through 1987-2000 we had two: winged jumpers, and blue(yep, blue includes navy) and gold.

Not saying we go backwards here but I think we need to go back to our roots and reinstate these as our identity. We were successful in it, it said "West Coast Eagles" (not West Coke Eagles), and really was something that showed who we were, not how much $ we can make by marketing different apparel and merchandise.

I just had a look at that mockup of a new eagles logo with blue and gold, and must say I like it. Goes back to where we came from, with a modern twist. I know the meaning of the Ochre (our mining company uses it in their logo), but, I do not feel it adds anything to our club other than a burnt orange flavour.

As I said, this is just me, I'm a traditionalist, I was 7 when the eagles kicked off and I hold those first 13 years of identity close to my heart.. without that, I'm afraid it just doesn't feel like the "true" Eagles brand.

We've also had red on our jumper for well over a decade, doesnt make red one of our colours. Ask anybody what eagles colours are theyll say blue and yellow. Not orange, not white. Whites ok for outlining but it shouldnt be used on any of our jumpers as it is in the home and clash strips.

Also that other design with the head still doesnt fix the fact that theres orange in it. Change it to royal, also the words look good but having them directly under the head looks weired, theres no flow to it. Maybe use it in a modern looking shield design or something to give it some frame.

I like the notion of using both blues, but just looking it at it's clear that the two colours don't really complement each other.
