This is just another form of road rage. And road rage is for self-righteous *********. I know some of them, people who actually go out of their way to turn themselves into some kind of roving vigilante, picking fights with anybody who’s driving (or parking) standards don’t meet their self-appointed “standards”. They just have issues and use it as an easy, convenient outlet.

There’s some bad drivers out there. Deal with it. And more so, people simply make mistakes sometimes or may have other things on their mind. You would have done it yourself too, believe it or not. If you really think you’re achieving something by abusing people or handing out your own twisted form of “justice”, well I feel for you and your anger issues. There’ll always be another driver making a mistake tomorrow, so all you’ll be is angry for the rest of your life. As I said earlier in the thread, the only thing you’ll ever achieve is one day probably coming across that “bad” driver who’s a little unhinged or sociopathic and will kick the living shit out of you. And guess what, you’ll blame society and level of anger out there...

Their self appointed standards? I think you mean road rules and general etiquette. I wonder how many car park insurance claims are at least partially influenced by shit parking on the part of the claimant? Parking like a ******** makes other peoples life more difficult - unnecessarily. If it's fine to take up two spaces etc. then why bother even trying? Just park perpendicular to the lines, or in the middle of the pedestrian crossing, or on the footpath out the front of the shops. If there were less inconsiderate ***** there would be less vigilantes. FWIW I shake my head at shit driving/parking but don't feel the need to jump out of the car and Hulk smash.

On a tangent, I previously lived in a house where there was a driveway with space for two cars and a verge (nature strip) with space for one. Three people shared the house and there were 3 cars. The neighbours were renovating and consistently decided to use our verge for their car, tradies cars when it was free, meaning one of us would come home (bare in mind as students cars come and go during the day regularly - we're not all out from 8-6 every day) and need to find street parking which in Subiaco I can tell you is not always easy.

Despite being repeatedly asked (politely) to park elsewhere, they took no notice and continued to act like inconsiderate *****. Once the renovations were complete and their own verge was cleared and new turf put in, we decided to use that area to park our cars. Surprise, surprise - they cracked the shits about it.

How can people in this day and age with power steering, sensors and what not, how could people still be shit at parking?

I understand if you are driving an old ford tank or some 25 year old car with no power steering. And 4WD..the ones designed for the mums..they virtually park themselves.

No excuse in 2012 for bad parking or not being able to park. What it comes down to IMHO is chronic laziness. People are very lazy and selfish these days and just dont give a hoot about anything unless it effects them directly.

Little do with skill and everything to do with ignorance and selfishness. Some people just have no idea that there's other people who need a park too.

It's the same as people who leave their rubbish at the table in a packed food court. They just aren't socially smart enough to understand that one of those other diners roving around with their tray look for a table will have to throw their shit in the bin.

I have little tolerance for dumb arses.

Has nothing to do with "standards" and everything to do with "why the **** have you got absolutely no idea that when you park like that you are stopping someone else from parking. It's not as if parking spaces grow in trees"

I'd suggest if this sort of selfish behavior doesn't shit you off then maybe you're one of the ones who do it - if it doesn't annoy you then it's unlikely you will see how this pisses other people off so therefore there's a high chance you engage in this behavior.

Maybe it's much more simpler than that: People get annoyed at selfish people who for no gain inconvenience other people. Some people have no social intelligence and it pisses other people off who have to suffer the consequences.

These aren't mistakes. They're people with little social intelligence who have no idea they are inconveniencing the rest of us.

I think most people park within their limitations. ie. I dont rate my reverse parking, so I never attempt it really (only ever to fix up a dodgy roadside park and leave appropriate space for others).

It's the socially unaware selfish parking that is obviously not skill-related that annoys people. However, I think we all push the boundaries of bad parking atleast once a year (yes, all of us). No one is perfect, unless they are absolutely car-obsessed and rave about their driving skills.

The most annoying thing for me is that in my underground car park, when I have to reverse out of a morning, there is a minivan in the row arears a few metres away, and equipment jutting out an extra metre or so in the park alongside it. Plus I am parked against a building support pole. If they were just normal sedans or whatever, it would be a simple reverse. But instead it's a six point reverse.
Not really their fault (well, the equipment part is), just a 1st world problem, but irritating.

Worse than bad parking is littering in your private carspace. I remember 2-3 times in the space of a month, I found bags of mcdonalds and coffee cups left in my single apartment parking space. Much more annoying. It's bad enough when this happens while occupying a public carspace, but doing that on your own private one is like ransacking your apartment.
