I know for a fact ( a truthful fact not bigfooty.com fact ) that walker dislocated his collarbone before the game at the gabba and needed a cortisone injection to get through the game. He is also carrying a rotator cuff injury in the other shoulder that will need surgery to be fully fit.

Why is he still playing? He should have the surgery and be put on ice ( not west coast ice ) until pre season 2008.

The Roos did it last year with Simpson Harvey and Grant and they are now sitting pretty in 2nd place. They were also rewarded with Hansen for closing up shop early.

If Walker plays then I'm wrong about one thing - we aren't tanking - but I wish we were

Walker will play. He got through the session yesterday with flying colours

obviously we didn't name him for no reason so i would think hes very close if not 100% fit if he has been named in the squad. I think our club is not that stupid to name a player that is unable to play to full capacity unless were tanking (hopefully not).

I stuffed up my rotator cuff last year. Wasn't aloud to play sport for 2 months. If walker has damaged his rotator cuff he should not be playing. it just makes it worse.

Was he put through match conditions ?
i.e. tackling, full contact contesting, overhead marking duels

If we were playing for a spot in the finals I would probably take the risk. Why take ANY risk with such an important player when the downside is so much worse.

Do u want his shoulder to end up as unstable as Cam Clokes?

There was no tackling or any contact drills yesterday

It was all skills based drills

Why would they play him if he was injured? Doesn't really make sense to me.

They played Gibbs fo 3 weeks with bad ankle so I guess anything is possible. Playing with a loose shoulder joint is a massive risk especially when there is nothing to be gained just lost. I guess we won't know until he is targeted in every tackle. And make no mistake about it, if he plays Mark Williams will make his sore shoulder an issue.

I spoke to him last saturday night, and by the sounds of it they just rested him against collingwood as a precaution and he was always going to play against port. He didn't seem that worried about it.

I have no doubt that the coaching and medical staff know what they are doing, so I trust them 100% to make the correct decision.

Surprising when you consider stevens, Fevola, Whitnall and a plethora of other players have been asked to play the season with bad to chronic injuries.

The number of times come seasons end we have found out why someone was performing so badly has been due to an injury which will be addressed in the off season is starting to build a pretty grim picture of the medical teams approach.

Not sure where you get your 100% trust from, certainly not from their past decisions.

Couldn't have put it better myself:thumbsu:

May I just say that the West Coast Ice joke is completely worn out and unfunny, and most teams would love to havea player with his skill in their line up.

To win garbage games. :thumbsd:

We played Walker last year with a broken finger and a groin injury which required surgery. We also played Fev with a groin injury in 2005, hearsay had the surgeon saying Fev's groin injury was as bad as he's seen . Ratten was quoted in the paper the other day saying that Walker's shoulder might require surgery and Fev is playing with an oedema in his leg.

Stevens played through injury last year and Kouta's hip forced him to retire.

Setanta doesn't look 100% either, the rumoured hamstring injury has become a groin injury.

Madness when he have zero chance of playing finals.

I'd rather the club give the injured players the four weeks off than risk them doing further damage.

Who cares what the media say about tanking.

I was hoping I would get a respose - good or bad. He is a great role model. It shows all children what to do with money if fortune comes your way.:thumbsd:

I know most players in the AFL are pretty sore this time of year, however, if the club are putting injured players out there that require either rest or an operation, then they are really doin the wrong thing. And like you said, there is no point at all in them playing at the moment either.

can't disagree with anything you've said here. He should be getting ready for 08.
