yeah we're still a pretty crap team...As I've sternly said over the year, we need to beat bogey teams like Swans, Freo, Geelong, Hawthorn, Brisbane - as we haven't beaten those sides in nearly 4 years, longer for fricking Sydney!

IIRC you haven't beaten us in a H&A game since you thumped us early 2001.

But we haven't looked as good-a-side since then, so i reckon it'll be a close one! Could be the match of who'll make 8th spot...

If Brown plays, it will force the opposition to put their best defender on him freeing up Bradshaw. Against Geelong, Bradshaw had a quiet game coz of brown not playing.
With Roe back, he has the speed and agility to go with Fevola - in case Merrett finds it hard. Carlton's backline is still learning and we have enough firepower to win this game. Looking forward to it.

We should really jam the Dome out. 35,000 will not be acceptable.

Agree.

41k was an excellent turnout on a shitty looking saturday against the crows.

Lets all get down and fill the dome 45k (bris have a good melb pressence).

looking forward to this game.

hate to be negative, but we wont win.... wont happen.... I'm more concentrating on how competitive we can be and if we can keep it under 5 goals. Thats all I'm aiming for...

BS, it is very winnable. We pushed them last year at the dome and a lot has changed since then. I like our chances.

Can't wait to get some live action........sick of watching the tapes.

Single man BB? :p

Hopefully Haddles will be back for this one - we'll need him in the clearances.

shame the game is at the dome and not at the MCG. We play so much better at the G and so badly at the dome.. hope this record was only because we have been very shit for the last 6 years. And the G is the best place to watch sport.

GO BLUES!!... its a shit time for us to have a break because we have some momentum going winning 3 of the last 4

How'd you go up at the Gabba last year, boys...??

BTW for those who think Carlton are travelling "pretty similarly" to the Lions, here's who you've played:

Richmond (lost)
St Kilda (lost)
Essendon (lost)
Collingwood (won)
Melbourne (won)
Adelaide (lost)
WCST (won)

And here's who we've played:

WCST (lost)
Collingwood (won)
Sydney (lost)
Port Ade (won)
Hawthorn (lost)
Melbourne (won)
Geelong (lost

In our 7 games to date, only ONE team didn't make the top 8 last year, and we've already played the two best teams in the comp, clearly, in Hawks/Cats. You guys are yet to meet either.

Not saying you can't win, just if we are nearly full strength (ie just Black out from the players mentioned earlier) then you'll find it tough. Big advantage for you guys is the Dome.

TBH although Brown, Black & Lappin missing will probably make is favourites, and a game in which we should win, i would almost love to see them playing and in good form. Its no mesuring stick continually coming up against and beating sides that arnt full strength. Collingwood had Burns missing (probably not enough to tilt the game their way but still highly important to their side) Melbourne, well we know how they were travelling before this weekend & West Coast minus a host of players and fielding plenty of injured players.

Though you can only play who the opposition puts up against you, winning games against full strength sides would probably show where we really are at.

My thoughts anyway.

Far from it. Mrs Bear and baby bear keep me quite busy.

Was a referrence to being away for the past month. Have caught up with the Dons game and Dees game on tape, but just can't wait for the buzz of being at the game again.

You'd be silly to take us lightly, chum.

Browns not really that fit ;) let him play this week and see if his injury gets worse then he'll be out for next week ;) that be their equilivent of Fev if Fev was out that be 6 + goals Brisbane will be missing ;)

I think we'll have our work cut out for us against Brisbane. We can't get too far ahead of ourselves. Sitting at 3-4 we have every right to be thrilled with our progress and results so far. Disappointing losses to Essendon and Richmond included in that record too, where I really thought we could have won one of those.

But we're not a finals side yet. And that's OK. We're going in the right direction, definitely. Brisbane are a pretty solid squad. They've been a bit up and down, but their best players are seriously, SERIOUSLY good, and they should start favourites regardless of what line up they can field.

However, Brisbane would be silly not to respect the fact that this is not the easy-best Carlton squad they've kicked the hell out of the last few years. The Blues ARE dangerous, and can apply pressure.

A good showing is what I'm looking for from the Blues for the remainder of the season. No 100 point blow-out losses, and winning the winnable games. We're nicely on track for ~8 wins, which I think would be at the high-side of presseason predictions/realistic hopes. I believe Steven Icke said the club was aiming for 6-8 wins. So if we get to 8, I think it's been a very good year.

Progressing well! Learning new ways to win. I like what I'm seeing.

I can see what you are saying but don't underestimate games against Richmond & Essendon. They may as well be games against top 8 sides because of the rivalry alone.

You've won two games against top 8 sides last year and so have we.

Looking forward to the challenge in 11 days time. I bet Stevo and Fev are too in their 200th & 150th respectively :)

We both beat Pies (although you blokes were lucky TBH, and at home), both beat Dees (yawn).......so your holding up Port........a game that you were being smashed in and just got up......vs Eagles......a game we lead from go to woe.
Yeah......your form is CLEARLY better than ours.

Wow, you
