Trolling aside, I'm just curious what the majority opinion of docker fans is. I'm not voting since obviously I'm not a freo fan. but personally I think he should be given another chance if Freo do turn things around and scrape into the 8 this year, but no finals should absolutely definitely see him sacked. Keep in mind that its year 4 of the journey and a failure to make the finals would pretty much put you exactly where you were in '02. IMO, 2 years running missing the finals for no good reason should put any coach in the league out of their job.

I'll happily steer clear of all Connolly bagging in future if he does turn it around and get you to the finals from here, but what do you (ie, Freo supporters only) reckon?

Also, for those who have already lost faith in him even if a finals appearance is forthcoming, and those who definitely support him coaching the dockers in '06 even if you don't make it- is there anything that could change your opinion between now and the end of the year? Finals victories? a bottom 4 finish? derby win/loss?

It is indeed a legitimate excuse to bag your club, but not because of anything I said- if the majority of Freo fans have total confidence in Connolly this would be a wonderful chance to shut trolls like me up and demonstrate that.

No problem with you asking the question... just find the poll a little OTT. An Eagles supporter starting a poll on the Freo board about Freo's coach. A bit off. I would still urge people not to vote. But hey, there's enough info already on the subject that answering the same question again wouldn't really be an issue.

its fair to say that you jumped the gun on re apointing connoly.
he may well turn out to be a premiership coach. he may well turn out to be a nothing coach. but had you not resigned him, and if you don't make the finals, would you still want him as coach? i assume the answer is no.

personally, and unrelated, i do not want malthouse as coach anymore. i think he did a terriffic job at the pies, but i feel that he is heading the wrong direction now, i feel that recruiting morisson and caracella was a step in the wrong direction. That doesn't mean he's ruined our club, and we may even snatch a premiership (though i REALLY doubt it) i think we'd have been better taking the youth option and starting over.

connolly, i don't rate as a coach. i feel that he tried to rush your teams development with longmuir at FF, whilst he should have been developing polak there.
I know FAR less then connolly about football, and probably a hell of alot less then that about fremantle. So theres a very good chance that my strategy wouldn't have you in any better shape then connolly has you.

But, its a fair question from mead, and the insight your answers would give people like myself would be very interesting.

It's a fair question, but his methods are perhaps questionable. There is a plethora of responses on another thread on this board that addresses exactly the issues Mead wants addressed. Go read that thread. It's all there. But a poll?? Seriously, rather unnecessary and inflammatory.

Would you feel comfortable for a Carlton supporter to come to the Collingwood board and start a poll about any aspect of your club (coach or otherwise)??
