........just as there are none with any highly regarded recruit.........just ask the Roos re Thompson and Hay, or the Dockers re Croad.

Fair point BB, but you know what i mean. I think the percentages are on your side picking up an established player as opposed to going with a number 6 or 7 draft pick.

Having reconsidered the whole situation, our previous drafting has shown that we have no idea what to do with picks between 2 and about 30 (Livingstone, Sporn, Vance, etc), so we should trade any picks in this range for extra picks after about pick 30 - ie we might be able to trade our pick 6 for pick 32 and pick 33, and trade our pick 22 for 35 and 46. Then we can use those to pick up the next wave of Armfields, Simpsons and Brownes. :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Or not.

Looking at history is kind of stoopid when you are dealing with an '08 draft pool and a completely different recruiting team from those years. While last year we did very well with 36 and 46, I'd still back our blokes with pick 6 over pick 32 :)

If i was just a tad funnier it would be obvious when i'm taking the piss. I'll try and work harder at it Gilly :thumbsu:

:p:thumbsu: good work, but please take into acount that i do have a sick sense of humour.

I say let the footy club decide. We have got rid of incompetent idiots like Smorgon and I'm much more confident about better decisions being made at the club now - let the guys do what they are there for. I must say I am concerned about salary cap issues in the future - what's going to happen when our young guys are offered opportunities elsewhere we can't match becoz of the cap or having too many guys on big contracts. Hopefully we can keep our young guns and reward them accordingly - not lose them becoz we threw huge money at today's superstar who could end up tomorrows has-been. Only the people at the club will truly know what our cap scenarios are, what we can do and what we can't (hopefully)!!

Having thought even more about it, i agree with you Johnsy. I promise i won't trade any of Carlton's picks for Kerr, and i'll just leave it with the recruiters at the club.

Forgot about Lawrence...

Just remembered the story from Kouta where he come in from training and saw Angwin inside riding an exercise bike like a man possessed while wearing like 2 layers of clothes and completely off his nut.

Be almost funny if it wasn't so tragic.

Seriously, I'm really really really not keen on Kerr. I work with his next door neighbor and have had the misfortune to have a few run-ins with the man. Not the sharpest bloke out there. Plus with his extensive background, known 'associates', poor injury and suspension record, and bad influence factor - its just not worth it.

Its going to be the last good draft for a while. Lets save the money we would be paying him for the honest blokes who have worked hard for the club, and hope we draft well.

Have to ask - how so?

Don't think I have ever even met a workmate's neighbour :)

Did you mean on the field or off.... Answer is no 1st 2nd third or 4th .... back to the bad old days if we do this...

WOW

We all know how good he is and with the right support systems in place (principally Juddy?) I would rather go for the proven player. We are not far off making it and already have a good stable of kids so I will take a Derby winner if they are available over an unraced 2yo :)

Once at a barbie at said house (he wasn't invited, but was pissed as a newt out the front at about 9pm nearly forcing afore mentioned BBQ organizer to call the Police. She didn't purely because she is a raving WCE fan and friends with the family).

Also on 2 separate occasions on nights out. Once at the Manor (a nightclub over here in Leederville) where he was absolutely disgraceful (and off his nut) and about this far from having his teeth knocked out,and once at the Casino (where he was hanging with one of Cousins' druggie mates).

Seriously, watch an interview with the man - talk to him yourself at training days - or just look over his past record re: smashing taxis, involvement with underworld figures, forging prescriptions to get drugs, assault (and ill never understand why he wasn't charged for that taped phone conversation with gangsters) and you'll get a pretty good picture of the man.

Tool. Criminal. Convictions for assault, theft and forgery. Drug and hardened crime associates. Do NOT want.

If Carlton got Kerr,

they would win the premiership next year.

Kerr is a phenomenal player, and after 3 blistering years where only suspension stopped him from winning three Brownlows, he has had a tough year constantly hounded as the player who would be the next to bring the Eagles down.

HE was under lots of off field pressure and played in a frustrated style.

It amazing the memory spans of people, DUH!. Have they already forgotten what Kerr played like before this year.

He works brilliantly with Judd and was described as better thanJudd by many.

Eagles won premiership with a brilliant midfield.

The problem for Carlton is that they probrably wont get him.

I f he is happy at a club he is unstoppable because he is probrably the toughest midfielder pound for pound.
BUT MANY HAVE ALREADY FORGOTTEN. Sign of the times where anything is desposable.

I hope he stays at the Eagles.

Thanks for that. There I was thinking he was a complete dud. Appreciate it. :thumbsu:

Simple,

If our pick is above that of #7 - then yes, I'd trade it for Kerr (and I'd even throw in a fruit basket).

... But Hurley/Zeibell/Hartlett would be nice.

You must have a good handle on the top 6 and THAT huge gulf in class to #7 ;) :p
