If Freo beat Ess, likely, and If Hawks beat Ess, likely, and If we lose to Pies week 1, who do we likely play in week 2? Any crazy chance we play a resurgent Hawthorn who start winning? Long way off but have this dread that if our slide continues, I'd hate Hawks to finish our season.

The ideal scenario is that we beat the Pies, get a nice week off to freshen up, and force a Saints/Pies prelim on the other side of the draw that would no doubt be a tough, physical, close encounter.

Exactly. And even though they have run into some form, I don't see the Hawks making that much impact if they did make the 8.
