i dunno. i think im lost.
Other Teams
melbourne
i think we could just scrap the third quarters in games and go straight to the 4th. :D but seriously we gotta start to play a whole 4 quarter game or else when it comes to the crunch we r gonna crumble and burn.

other little *** bits.

Vardy was impressive in his first game. Nicho was GREAT on tredrea. his best game yet IMO. Chell stood up in the last quarter to win it for us.

Woey again was quiet but lifted in the end. Johnno looked to be injured (hip or ankle was what we were told) Schwarta was done. cut lip thanks to Mead  and maybe a corky, wasnt running too freely.

4 goals from Neita. and another great game from the skipper. I took his number off my back and now he plays well. perhaps i was jinxing him  :o :( lol

tackling was great today, best ive seen in a long time. 21 tackle to 3 in the first quarter. our pressure and tagging were good but a couple of times we didnt talk it up and as a result we got caught twice that i can remember. but all in all it was an ok game. Its just the 3rd quarters that bug me. we have to improve there.

Oh and Wheatley....im not too impressed with him, i think its time he had a spell with sandy. he is just not at his best.

anywho that is my opnion and feel free to add yours. :D

thanks macca. and can i just ask. is Chad Cornes really arrogant or is it just me? cos today i saw him a couple of times he was like so snotty. a bit like his father sometimes (which explains it really :p ) but is he normally arrogant?

lol, yes, he sure is!!
thanx too!

yeah nicki, very good overview of the game. i was very pleased with the result!! i spoke to brad miller at 3/4 time (and i spoke to breesy at 1/4 time :D ) and i was scared then, but he was like 'its ok, i know these boys, they're gonna do it, we're gonna win!'. i deff agree with your idea on scrapping the 3rd quarter, however that would mean that the last quarter becomes the third, and they'd still be ****ty. i reckon they should just not count the last quarter!! :D
anyways, it was a GREAT day, and yeah!!

Arrogant? He acts very arrogant for someone with limited skills. How he managed to drop that mark in your goal square in the third is beyond me. Then he goes and takes that one hander in the last quarter....

When Melbourne are good they are quite impressive, but when they are bad, boy are they bad. 1st and last quarters were good, middle two, for the most part, were very ordinary.
Mind you, it had a lot to do with the opposition. Port flooding back all the time made Melbourne look scrappy.
Just on Port Adelaide, they can not expect to win a premiership with their current style of play. It amazes me the way they play when they have the players the calibre of Tredrea and Dew just to name a few.
Anyway it was a promising performance. It was interesting to note that when Johnstone was off we were shocking and once he was on again we were OK. He makes a huge difference. Neitz was good up forward, Biz showed a lot and Nicho played the best match I have ever seen him play:eek:

i very much agree with you there. firstly, nicho played fantasticly!! it almost makes me want to say sorry for what i said a few weeks ago, but i won't, coz it was true at the time. i understand what ya say about their players. if port fine a good styple of play, they'd be great, but until then - they're not. i also want to say that primus is REALLY anoying!!! he's a very... um... strange player, and i really didn't like how he played today.
jono once again was fantastic! having him back makes a BIG difference! and i think it'll be great when we have all (or most) of our top players back.

Thanks to Macca & Powergirl for your good sportsmanship. It was certainly a great win against an opponent I rate very highly (my premiership tip even before the Ansett cup).

Dee is right, the tackling was sensational, it's an area that had to improve & if we keep that intensity up we'll go a long way.

It's been an exciting start to the season, but both of the teams we've beaten despite their hype are winless at the moment.

The Jury's still out on us I think.

I agree. We didnt play this style of play and gameplan at all last year or in the wizard cup...and we came 3rd last year and won the wizard cup....so they resort to the 2000 short kicking crap gameplan where we finished 14th
I got no idea what the hell is going on but im not impressed

Well said Nicki! :)
I also wanna add that Bizzell has been brilliant so far, today he really stood up to us and he even got best on ground on channel 9. You can see he fits very well in the backline and that he is starting to be more comfortable with his skills downback.
Cameron Bruce was another great contributor; his accuracy could have been better but he has certainly improved since being recruited and has done a lot both in the backline and the forward line. In my opinion however, I think he is better off in the forward line.
Good to see Woey had a go in the last quarter, and good to see people like Walshy, Whelan and Broadbridge putting their bodies on their line time and time again.
Also have to agree that Nicho had a brilliant game, did a great job all day and was a standout in the defence.
Hopefully Ellis will help in keeping Neita up forward for the whole game because Neita has certainly been incredible down there. And the return of Wardy, Tommo, Febes as well as the debut of people like Breese and Miller will give us extra strenght and hopefully end our 3rd quarter woes.
Over all a very good performance and a great way to start the season! :)

GO DEES! :D

Don't forget the return of Jolly this week from suspension who looked very good in the pre-season.

Oh thats right, Jolly will be able to give Whitey a bit of a rest too.

Just a quick note on injuries:
A McDonald (ankle)
Wheatley (hamstring)
Schwarz (corked thigh)
Johnstone (corked buttock).

I think Anthony did it bad, he looked pretty screwed right there. Wheatly was another bad one coz he never got back there, however I think Oxy and Johnno will pull up just fine.... or at least I hope they will because god knows we need them!

Johno and Ox came back out, Macca was playing injured for awhile from what I saw, and didn't see Wheatley.
Even if Wheats and Macca don't pull up,we have Ellis, Jolly, Williams, Funke, Clark (from what I hear) all pushing for limited spots, along with Thommo, Wardy and later Breese, Molan, Miller etc. We have some depth at last, and I for one think it's about damn time!! :D

and who would that be?

I'm hoping Clarky...... but Miller would do me just fine! ;)
Apperantly Miller kicked 3 goals when they put him up forward on Saturday and was also good down back. But I think to fill Wheatly's shoes we'll need more of a defender-midfielder type of player so maybe this can be Clarky's chance...... here's hoping! :)
