Something we are lacking more than anything. A quality midfielder with explosive pace and sound skills. Over the years there have been rumours of us trying to land some of these type of players with lucrative contracts (Eg- Dal Santo). However, the issue still needs to be adressed. We have penders and daisy coming through, but we still need 2 pick up a player who can assist the two.
Aka would be too old, but atm he looks like the only type of player who would fit into the criteria of skill and pace.

I don't want him. He's too old and isn't what Collingwood needs right now. Instead we should get a young mid in the draft (Houli, Proud, Hislop) or even Selwood if he slips through to pick 8 - 10.

You could have grabbed Ellis but you went for a pack skirter, who looks good btw but he's no midfielder. This was a strange choice considering what you say.
Forget Aker, Melb will get him.

god i love how arrogantly stupid we collingwood fans are.

'dont want him'. 'too old'. HA.

fact is aka wouldnt be caught dead playing for our side. dont kid yourselves - we're the laughing stock of the competition with our attack on the footy (or lackof).

and as usual the problem will just grow, as mick lets another crack in our game go unattented.

same 'ol same 'ol magpie crap lads. wake up.

we didnt get thomas to be a midfielder (though to be honest he'll turn into one anyway down the track), we got him to be a didak-esque danger man with game-breaking capabilities.

pendlebury was our no.1 midfield target.

ellis wouldve been a nice get, but give me thomas for collingwoood's needs anyday.

Yes of course.

So how many games has Ellis played this year?

Oh man and its so easy to get them too.
We just go out and tell Judd he is playing for Collingwood next year - right?

He's been dominating schoolboy footy, and getting belted btw, aswell as playing 4 gmes for BH. He had to finish his schooling, this was put on the table from the start.

He'll get a couple of senior games by years end.

You missed my point, Ellis will be a quality midfielder, Thomas will be a great opportunist fwd but I doubt he'll make a great midfielder which is what your club desperately needs.

When he has finished playing hankypanky with the headmaster let us know.:D

We need alot of things.
A reliable shutdown back pocket player so that Lockyer isn't left on the Farmers of the world.
A big ruckman to help out Josh (others may see to be the #1 ruckman)
Good young inside mids to replace O'Bree, Lica, Burns
Good young all round quality midfielders would be good but we have a few good running players, we need in and under players as Yakka and Davies, despite the fact they may still make it, can't bear the load alone.

This Dawk clearly hasn't seen Ellis play before.

He makes Ryan Lonie look hard when it comes to pack situations! Great finisher though.

dawk?

Was just answering the question - you obviously have trouble with conversation and general discussion on footy.

Better tell mum your bib needs replacing.

You'll know when you start scratching your hollow noggin wondering why the hell the recruiters let him slip.

See you on the way down.

since when has ellis been a midfielder???

he played his junior footy for gippy as a BP-HBF.......bit like p.bowden.........ie soft but has good skills

thomas is a HFF who played onball in periods for gippy, and he actually aint afraid to tackle or be at the bottom of a pack like Xavier

You couldn't handle the post about Ellis so you decided to call someone a baby. Hence the irony.

Had already made my point. Thought it was pretty clear.

Just responded to someone who couldn't understand.

Ellis will play midfield - Thomas won't.

Collingwood need midfielders.

Collingwood decided to go for a non midfielder over a potentially very good one.

This was my point.

Terrible comment.

Thats why they compare him to a player you so desperately tried to lure with big $$ - ie Dal Santo.

Collingwood went for a forward/midfielder with the x-factor and solid skills over a skinny outside midfielder with great skills. Thomas will be a midfielder, and will be better prepared for AFL football after a year more of AFL level football under his belt, compared to Ellis who can't handle the workload of being a footballer and a student like alot of other players can.

Luke Ball.

Ellis is more like T.Johnstone then anything, but perhaps a bit more silky but slower.

No doubt you've time trialled them.

Give Ellis a couple of years - he'll be v good for us. We already have bulls in Mitch, Lewis and Hodge. An outsider would compliment this group quite nicely.

Thomas has great evasive skills and is very clean with his hands but unless he adds 10kgs he'd get smashed in the middle.
