This is kind of a 'Spin-Off' from the Crows Members thread posted by Dylan123. It got me wondering how many of Crows Supporters on BigFooty live in SA and barrack for the Crows and how many are Interstate Supporters (and how they ended up Supporting the Crows and living Interstate).

Being a Melbourne-based Crows supporter I always get drilled on why I go for Adelaide! Drives me nuts. Since I'm the 1st AFL Sport Lover in my family nobody really told me who to go for. I go for the Crows because I Just DO! I've always been a Andrew McLeod fan and watching him play for the Crows made me end up barracking for the Crows.

How bout you guys

Am also a Melbourne-based crows. Never been to Adelaide.

Reason: Mods.
Back in the days where speckies were not an endangered species, he was one of the best at taking them.

I'm sure there are many who became supporters/members because of Mods.

With work or being deported, my friend?? :D

Seriously, is that with work or some alternative reason??

The country's been looking for a reason to get rid of me for years! :D

Seriously though, I'm about 6 months from finishing a PhD and will be looking for a PostDoc afterwards and will almost certainly be applying interstate/overseas for it. Not that I particularly want to leave Adelaide but I guess if I'm going to do a PostDoc I may as well try to find the best Uni I can. Of course, it's quite possible (or even probable!) that nobody else will accept me ;)

Adelaide (Elisabeth) Feb90-Aug90
Melbourne (Werribee,Hoppers Crossing) Aug90-Nov95
Sydney (Penrith, West Ryde) Nov95-Feb08
Adelaide (Marleston, Norwood) Feb08-

Bred to support Adelaide and North. Got behind Adelaide in 96 and passionte in 01. Got behind North when in the wooden spoon, and passionate this year with season tickets (Home and AWAY)

Born and bred South Aussie :D. But my family were Essendon supporters before 91 because my mum's cousin was a Premiership player for them, but when the Crows came in, we jumped aboard!

Born & bred in SA. Spent the first 21 years of my life there before moving away for work.

As a Norwood supporter I will always barrack for 2 teams in the AFL. The Adelaide Crows and whoever's playing Port.

*high fives*
totally my philosophy!
Except I wasn't sure about Collingwood, but a few years ago when Port were playing Collingwood, I was barracking for Collingwood just as hard as I do for the Crows, which showed how deep my hatred for Port was :p

Watching McLeod play, beating the victorian teams and giving my mates the s**t for thinking we are not goood enough to beat their teams. Oh it feels so good living in Melbourne.:D But when the crows lose, jeesus you wouldnt want to mention football for a whole week.

sometimes its worth remembering that we all share common ground :p

Born and bred Freo boy but was originally in a West Coast family and was forced to support them until about 6 or 7. When I realised I didn't have to go for the Eagles and I wasn't drawn to Freo, somehow I just started following the Crows. McLeod and Nigel Smart for some reason were two players I loved watching.

Other than the Crows I support WA teams in other sports.

Im the same although my mum is to the extreme its quite funny watching how worked up and angry she gets. Both my parents were devoted norwood supporters before crows think dad actually followed collingwood growing up living in the country and all. Its such a great feeling of satisfaction when port lose i never pity them. Hurry up and be afl09!

Well I'm a weird case: Grow up in Adelaide (Elizabeth) I used to follow Melbourne until about 7 or 8 (93) when we moved away I started following the crows more. I have lived in Melbourne (Essendon- yes they are some of the most annoying supporters around) for 12 years, and I also hate the why do you follow the crows question!!

Have lived in Adelaide for only 6 months of my 47 years.... but hubby is a born and bred South Aussie. We both followed Carlton prior to 1991.... me because they weren't Collingwood (who my father barracked for) and him because of the south aussies playing for them. Have supported the Crows since inception.

Born in Adelaide, moved to Melbourne when I was 7.

LOVE winning in Melbourne and being 1 in 10.

More people to stick it to ;)

Ever since I moved to Melbourne (10yrs ago) Ive been asked when will I swap to a Vic club, simple reply is NEVER.

Its funny though what sort of influence Tony Modra had on getting non South Australian people to support the AFC my wife, her best friend and another friend of ours all grew up in Victoria but came to love the AFC thanks to Modra, Mark Williams of the CSG also grew up in Victoria and was also drawn to support the AFC thanks to Modra.

My eldest daughter at her school will have a 'footy day' when they goto school wearing the colours of the club they support, and loves being the only one in AFC colours and proud about it also:thumbsu:

Thats it after a loss every prick comes out of the woodwork having a crack at you:o

Born and Bread in SA most people here are Crows supporters but there would be as many Bommers supporters as Port supporters!
