Just found this on the Essendon board:

The Indigenous squad – in jumper number order – is:

2. Chris Johnston (Brisbane)
3. Xavier Clarke (St Kilda)
4. Daniel Motlop (Port Adelaide)
6. Mark Williams (Hawthorn)
7. Peter Burgoyne (Port Adelaide)
8. Shaun Burgoyne (Port Adelaide)
9. Chance Bateman (Hawthorn)
10. Troy Cook (Fremantle)
11. Des Headland (Fremantle)
13. Andrew Lovett (Essendon)
14. Antoni Grover (Fremantle)
15. Chris Egan (Collingwood)
16. Danyle Pearce (Port Adelaide)
18. Graham Johncock (Adelaide)
19. Michael O’Loughlin (Sydney)
20. Eddie Betts (Carlton)
23. Andrew McLeod (Adelaide)
24. Lance Franklin (Hawthorn)
25. Byron Pickett (Melbourne)
26. Jeff Farmer (Fremantle)
27. Andrew Krakouer (Richmond)
28. Mathew Stokes (Geelong)
29. Patrick Ryder (Essendon)
30. Richard Tambling (Richmond)
33. Darryl White (Sthn Districts)
36. Aaron Davey (Melbourne)
37. Adam Goodes (Sydney)
42. Nathan Lovett-Murray(Essendon),
43. Rodger Hayden (Fremantle)
44. David Wirrpanda (West Coast)
Coach: Michael McLean

So, we have 5 of our fellas playing - any idea why Michael Johnson didn't make the squad? Key backmen not required???

5 of our blokes is a great contribution and you would think that if MJ was 100% that he'd be a shoe in for selection.

Is anybody covering the game?

I hope the Wizz has a huge one and confirms why he should have been a walk up start for the indigenous team of the century. With no disrespect to the fantastic footballers who did win selection in the team of the century, I would have thought that the Wizz's record, flair, sheer excitement and longevity in the game would have made him one of the first picked?

Thanks all. MJ is a star - carried the ruck as a 19 year old when they played 2 years ago.

Jeffrey will fire up for this one. No doubt. :thumbsu:

Surprised to see Wirrpanda there - not because he's not quality, but the weagles have tended not to support the concept in the past.

And bushie - can you keep an eye out for the telecast and let us know?? Cheers. :)

ABC2
AFL's Indigenous All-Stars game against Essendon from TIO Stadium in Darwin

I assume that is ABC2 on foxtel, channel 126? We normally have an intra-club game 2 weeks before the nab cup starts, but with that game on Friday the 9th, just over a fortnight before the nab cup derby, I wonder when the intraclub game will be played? Possibly the following Friday, allowing 9 days break until the derby?

You're uncanny. I was about to offer anyone who cares at least $50 that Wirrapanda won't play.

Can understand Daniel Kerr not playing.

Hey, that was a friendly request, not a demand... :D

And what are the odds Wirra will pull out with a "hamstring twinge" or some other such ailment... ;)

I reckon your being a bit harsh on Wirra, he's quality and if fit he would be absolutely committed to pulling the jumper on for this one.

This is a very big occasion for the indigenous boys and Woosha would be the first to acknowledge and respect that.

And Ralph, for what it's worth I'll take your fifty?

Plagiarised from the footy board but it seems legit

Its on that site for 8:30pm, the game starts at 6:35 (WST).

but that could just be a EST guide.

the AFL website leads me to believe that it is going to be live in Perth. Excellent :D

Good call, Wirrpanda says in todays paper that he doesn't want to risk getting injured in the Indigenous game, so he has pulled out. He'll play in their intra-club match on the same day though. In the words of the late David Hookes, what a dopey hairy backed sheila!

Apparently Goodes and O'Loughlin weren't selected.

Looks like it's live at 6:30, but people will need foxtel or a digital set top box to get ABC2.

bwahahahahahahahahahahaha..... I called it!!!! :D :D

Although I guess there are no prizes for picking the winner in a one-horse race!! There was only ever going to be one outcome!! ;)

ROFL:D :thumbsu:

There was more chance of snow in Perth in summer than there was of Wirra ever pulling on the boots for this game!!

I have started a non trolling thread about the Wirra issue on the WCE board and the silence is deafening!!!

No one wants to comment.

Well at least their over zealous mods haven't locked or removed it yet!!!
