Re: Andrew Carrazzo - You're a crappy decision maker and an even worse kick

I dunno that you should jump all over him to quickly, i thought he was one of your best players last year. I'm not gonna say he played overly well last night, but give him time, as someone said he has proven he can get his hands on the ball, with time you would think his decision making will improve. How old is he btw?

Re: Andrew Carrazzo - You're a crappy decision maker and an even worse kick

If they want him to roam free ... model his game on Daniel Cross.
If they want him to tag ... model his game on K.Cornes or Ling.

Re: Gibbs where art thou?

Actually, I would go close to being his biggest fan. Just ask Gilly. :)
I thought he was quiet tonight, but we can't expect him to get 25 touches each week, can we? :eek:

No, but someone of his quality, you would hope would step up when the team needs it, in the vital parts of games when no one else is.....then again, perhaps this is asking a lot of a second year player.

Re: Andrew Carrazzo - You're a crappy decision maker and an even worse kick

Carrazzo - Out of the mid, back into the back pocket or the front pocket so he can use his ball winning to increase our pressure.
Houlihan - Bulk down and into the mid cos he's everything Carrazzo's not. Watch the Essendon round 3 game, he was the turning point in the middle.

We don't need 25 useless possesions a game.

Re: Gibbs where art thou?

Certainly didn't have the best game. Think he needs to take on the opposition more and not always go the short option. While effective he hasn't been as damaging by foot as I know I can be. In saying that I thought his work at getting tough handballs out of conjestion to an opponent is/was last night 2nd only to Judd

Re: Gibbs where art thou?

Given his size and speed capabilities I wouldn't say Richmond would ever provide him his best game. Too small and fast for him to really get a shot. This game exposed our need for fast small defenders. Armfield/Ando - In.

Re: Andrew Carrazzo - You're a crappy decision maker and an even worse kick

Think Carazzo belongs in the engine room. His tough body, ability to find the pill, good endurance and excellent handball skills suggest that is where belongs. Playing him outside the square, doesn't play to his strengths, forcing him to deliver it more often by foot rather than dish it out by hand. I would be playing Stevens and Gibbs more on the wing and Carazzo more in the middle.

If he doesn't play middle, I think FP is the best. Can feed out from the packs and also has great hands on the lead. These days you need awesome kicking skills to survive in the backline as a mid-sized player...which he doesn't have. So I think a return to the BP is not wise.

If he can't get a get in the engine room or the FP, can see him struggling to get a game in the next couple of seasons.

Re: Andrew Carrazzo - You're a crappy decision maker and an even worse kick

The thing that shits me the most about Carrazzo is that he has this casual air when he gets the footy, as if he thinks he is one of the competition's elite midfielders who always has time to dispose of the ball.

He never has urgency when he gets the footy. It's as if he thinks he oozes class or something, and can just casually stroll around and backtrack until he 'pinpoints' a carefully thought-out target.

Unfortunately for Carrazzo, he is NOT an elite midfielder, and should handpass the ball to anybody else ASAP (though his handballs are just as bad as his kicking - it's as if they are moving through invisible tar they take that long to get there).

Hopefully he can have another 60 disposal game for the Ants next week.

Re: Gibbs where art thou?

he was quiet tonight, but he still did some absolutely briliant things. He is a class above anyone out there. Don't forget he is only 18

Don't know about that.Judd, Stevo etc
He cannot use the excuse that he is a rookie anymore- 18yo or not. He has improved physically, that is obvious. He does need to show improved performance as well. That does not mean BOG week in week out. But as is the case with each player - development, discipline, fundamentals, decision making

I blame Fevola

I have read a few threads here today and can't believe everyone blaming evryone apart from the real ******** who cost us a game we should have won.

Fevola disrupted everyone involved at Carlton this week:

1) The board, instead of concentrating on pumping up the new Carlton and selling the brand in a blockbuster we had to defend our brand because some twit is pissing on a window;

2) Ratten instead of having 100% concentration on match ups and the game plan, had to deal with media answer questions what about?? The moron himself;

3) The players looked stuffed after three quarter time, one player in particular? Why because they had used up that much nervous energy during the week and that much before the game due to friggen incidents we didn't need;

4) Yes he does kick bags of goals and chases when and only when he is given a spray, however he is nearly as dumb on the ground as he is off it. Two examples of this happened in the last quarter yesterday, instead of tackling a richmond player on the wing he tries to be a hero and shirt front him, he misses him and away they went, it would have been a simple tackle and would have sent us into attack. Secondly, in the last quarter again Stevens pops up a pass to the top of the square for Edwards, instead of protecting him with a block, he goes for the mark as well....

IMO opinion they should do what Robert Walls did to some guy in Brisbane when he messed up, get a circle around him with the players, throm him the gloves and let each player go a couple of rounds each with him until he has learnt his friggen lesson...

Re: I blame Fevola

Fevola off field should have no effect on a group of 21 other players on the field. There is no excuses, don't you see? We lost because we played poorly, these are the consequences. The most mature thing we could do right now is suck it up and not point the finger at whoever is in sight.

Mature? On here? I don't think so :p

Re: I blame Fevola

Well it didn't help, especially on the back of the Libba crap. But it is not the only thing to blame. It is hard to know how much these things can influence the individual but I still agree that playing Fev was vital. I thought Ratts would be the perfect guy to instill discipline on and off the field. I hope after this week and last night I am not wrong.

Couldn't agree more

Re: I blame Fevola

Whatever he did last weekend, he's been putting in on the field. Did you actually watch the first half? He was involved in almost every goal. If he'd had the luxury of being one-on-one that Richo had we'd be singing his praises today.

Fev would probably be able to kick the shit out of probably every player on our list, so that wouldnt do us any good.
Another silly thread, scapegoating for a poor team performance :rolleyes:

Re: I blame Fevola

Anyone who has played football knows that you can burn up a lot of energy without even running around on the ground, its called mental fatigue. Someone posted he played well in the first half with the team, this proves my point even further, why do u think we got run over in the second half, the players were FATIGUED mentally. Rats said he was not sure with the fade out because we were prepared physically, yes physically we were fine. That only leaves one thing mentally we were tired with answering questions like: should we suspend him? or maybe we shouldnt? He is a mate i dont want to upset, yet he needs to be punished etc etc, these things were going through the players heads, instead of concentrating on training etc and preparing for the game...I know if i have a mate who has messed up etc and i like him it would put me in a spin into how i should deal with the situation especially if he has messed up concerning me and other mates. He did this to all those players who were waiting for an outcome, some of which had to decide the outcome and who were they? our best players. So don't give me the crap about making him a scapegoat, he should be held responsible.

By the way the guy who said he could beat the crap out of all the players, believe me if u've been in the ring by the time he has boxed 5-6 rounds and another fresh player comes in wearing gloves, he will wear plenty of them and deservedly so.

Agree totally - frame of mind is paramount. The game is so quick if you are not switched on then forget it. Great cricket batsmen and golfer ie Steve Waugh and Tiger Woods have filled books on the subject. Look at Ricky Ponting this summer and tell me all the controversy did not make his batting crapolla.
Now about Fev - we would of course have to rope him then beat him.

Re: I blame Fevola

I see what you are saying (typing , haha) , but I still think it's a bit harsh though . There are 21 other players out there and they looked completely lost in the 2nd half (which was all I saw , - the last 15mins) and I can't see the impact of his f*ck up having such a huge impact tbh . We also have guys like in the leadership group (now minus one) to help put things into perspective for the younger players . Would be interesting to know his thoughts if he were to read this thread !

Re: Andrew Carrazzo - You're a crappy decision maker and an even worse kick

you are a tool mate, one game and ur bagging out a players. the improvement and hard work carrazzo has shown has been fantastic. his kicking has improved. so what i it's not great. he would be one of the reasons carlton didn't get smashed every game last year!! his the fittest player on our list and is a player we need in the middle! love to see u go out and play footy, see how hard it is to make it, especially when u own so called supporters sit there and make cracks at you!! good on you mate, love a loyal supporter! one game big whoop richmond wanted it more!
