Re: I blame Fevola

How can the Tigers get Richo one on one against Jamison so often while Fev was 3 on 1 most of the night?

Either the Tigers were doing more gut running to get there, in which case it should have been them that ran out of legs, or they were leaving their men to get to Fev.

Why are our other forwards not leading hard away from Fevola and dragging their opponent with them and if the opponents are not following, why are we still kicking to Fevola?

I just think our forwards do not work hard enough for each other. Lead, lead, lead, into space, out wide, double back etc etc, but stay the hell out of Fevola's space. If the opponents are dropping back between you and Fev, demand the ****ing ball as the midfield are coming forward.

This happens every year, Fev outnumbered and nobody else gets the ball. Even when Fish is there, he generally judges balls falling short or takes a pack mark where Fev is involved as well. They all seem to want to play out of the square or they are all getting forced to run to the square because our midfielders lack vision.

Judd will be one to fix this as he looks for viable options inside 50, not just for the star option.

I must say thought that Fev's hands were shocking last night, must have dropped 4-5 inside 50. Another 4-5 shots at vital times of the game and we might have broken their spirit.

Re: I blame Fevola

The mental fatigue was more from the same old symptom of the opposition getting a sniff and us turning into the team of the last 6 years.

When Judd was on the field doing his good things, the team sparked and were mentally on... when Judd was off, or a bit quiet in terms of play... there was no one else out there that could command that mental spark to reignite.

In terms of Fev... our first 3 goals were due to him.. did you see that tackle he rode near the 50m arc and dish off a great handball... Fev was doing well.. he was double teamed and ran and led all day... plus constantly getting players push him and knock him around.

With what happened with Fev.... Old Fev would of gotten suspended as the Tiger backs were no doubt teasing him about his peeing incident.. but no Fev was disciplined and did a lot of 1%.

Re: Andrew Carrazzo - You're a crappy decision maker and an even worse kick

It's widely acknowledged in footy circles after 1 year on Geelong's rookie list, Mark Thompson rang Pagan to look at this kid & give him a chance because Geelong didn't have room for him. Very interesting!

You have to wonder why he was only taken as a rookie, in the same draft that Hodge, Ball and Judd went 1,2,3. I think it was all on display last night. Gets plenty of it, just butchers it when he gets it.

Re: I blame Fevola

I have read a few threads here today and can't believe everyone blaming evryone apart from the real ******** who cost us a game we should have won.

Fevola disrupted everyone involved at Carlton this week:

1) The board, instead of concentrating on pumping up the new Carlton and selling the brand in a blockbuster we had to defend our brand because some twit is pissing on a window;

2) Ratten instead of having 100% concentration on match ups and the game plan, had to deal with media answer questions what about?? The moron himself;

3) The players looked stuffed after three quarter time, one player in particular? Why because they had used up that much nervous energy during the week and that much before the game due to friggen incidents we didn't need;

4) Yes he does kick bags of goals and chases when and only when he is given a spray, however he is nearly as dumb on the ground as he is off it. Two examples of this happened in the last quarter yesterday, instead of tackling a richmond player on the wing he tries to be a hero and shirt front him, he misses him and away they went, it would have been a simple tackle and would have sent us into attack. Secondly, in the last quarter again Stevens pops up a pass to the top of the square for Edwards, instead of protecting him with a block, he goes for the mark as well....

IMO opinion they should do what Robert Walls did to some guy in Brisbane when he messed up, get a circle around him with the players, throm him the gloves and let each player go a couple of rounds each with him until he has learnt his friggen lesson...

Shi-t thread - you are a sore loser....we weren't good enough and that's that. No mention about Ratten being outcoached (although it pains me to say) comprehensively.....we had the game and lost it....hopefully they'll pick themselves up and get a decent ruckman next week because effort by Cloke and O'Hailpin was pretty ordinary.....and let's not even talk about fitness!!!

And we haven't been doing that all Summer. New sponsors, 5,000 up on our membership at the same time last year, and recruiting some bloke called Judd.

Ratten had more than just one week to get the matchups right for Richmond.

Re: Andrew Carrazzo - You're a crappy decision maker and an even worse kick

enough said.

The guy is frustration personified - kicks to the wrong options, and doesn't do it very well.

You'd think AFL players would know their limitations at times - and give it off to someone else.

Not Andy I'm afraid.

Yep - not good enough but crucifying the bloke on one game?????? Still worked hard and acted as link up many times - there were a dozen worse than him last night!!!!!

Gotta get out of this Fev-focus all the times when moving forward. I reckon this blinkered approach to attack contributing to skill errors.

Yep, cant lay all the blame on the Fev - its a team effort and we lacked fitness or was it maybe we just couldnt keep up with richmonds fitness. Please give Fev a break

Re: I blame Fevola

For one it would teach the moron a lesson. Let me ask everyone who has read this post and is passionate about Carlton, how much time at the beginning of the week did you think of what was going to happen to Fev? I was upset by his actions wondering what they were going to do? etc etc... Now magnify that 100 fold with the players as they would have had it in their face constantly.

I really don't care what he did, yes he had a good first half, however the second half was clearly an indication that it had an effect on the whole club as all were fatigued, including the coach.

HBF, even though we have had a great summer increasing memberships, getting Judd etc. Fantastic, this does not excuse what he did, as little as 15 years ago we led the way and it seems as though we are getting there again, however morons like Fevola will stop us from getting there again. I am not happy with just being competitive, I want to be the number 1 club, because recently we have been happy to just be mediocre. With idiots like him around thats all we will be, and to be frank I totally agree with what Parkin said, 'we will not win a flag with Fevola at the club'.

Re: Andrew Carrazzo - You're a crappy decision maker and an even worse kick

I think Carazzo is unfairly criticised on this board. Champion Data shows that his effectiveness isn't as bad as we make out. I'm by no means saying his is a good kick, he is average at best, but I think this board takes it to another level

We were doing fine in the first half when we were kicking to those who weren't really permanant forwards like Setanta Scotland, Thornton, those types of guys. It's when we became FF (Fevola Focused) that everything started going to sh*t.

Why didn't Pfeiffer get a game?!?! and Grigg did...

Couldn't be cos of form could it? Team match ups? You would think he'd get a game ahead of Grigg. He seriously has a case of rabbit in the headlights when he gets the ball. A few times Grigg got it, he stops, props, looks side to side frantically, then bombs it.
Sure he's young and maybe lacks a bit of confidence, but its a combo we dont need in the backline.

Re: I blame Fevola

Walls has since said he would never do the team box on a player again. He seriously regretted ever doing it. It was bullying and bastardry and if you think it would help change Fevola's behaviour in the slightest, you are clearly delusional.

Well it was hardly shown to be effective. Who was the player again and how did his career go?

Ur probably right, though i am very very frustrated at what Fevola did, especially after the Libba incident it was just very annoying. I wanted to trade him before trade week the last few years and was criticised heavily for doing so, once trade period was up i supported the decision (not that my opinion matters anyway) but to then do what he did just pissed me right off (pardon the punn).

On a good note after watching the game again, I loved the way Mark Murphy created and fed off many opportunities (especially in the first half), I am hoping he can spend the time in the forward kine to develop into a goal kicking mid in the same mould as Cousins. When Cousins started out at West Coast he was a forward pocket who kicked a heap, i am hoping that Murph will become a similar player.

Anyway i am glad that week of crap is now behind us and we can concentrate solely (without distractions) on beating the Saints.

Go the Bluebaggers!!!

exactly right HBF, gets alot of it but just does not do any damage. I would rather see him get 20 possies and do damage on the scoreboard or assists

I'd take them one step further Gibbsy. I'd turn him into our No.1 tagger, and use Judd, Stevens, Murphy, Gibbs, Hadley, Scotland, Houlihan, Simpson, Walker, Bentick and Jackson to rotate through our midfield as our attacking options.
