WA is 5/65 off 16 overs with Langer, Rogers, Campbell, Hussey and Marsh all out.

The match could well be a fizzer.

WA have fought back a bit; but in the 46th over it's 9/187.

I doubt that'll be anywhere near enough. NSW should win this easily.

2 overs to go and they leave to go to a british airport show.

Did exactly the same thing last week when the match was in the balance.

How come it's deemed acceptable to leave before the end of a cricket innings or match yet it's never deemed to be acceptable for a network to leave before the end of a football match?

NSW 2-65 after 8.3 overs, look to be well on top. Katich & S.Waugh in now, after Haddin made a quickfire 34 off 18 balls, and Thornely made 10. M.Waugh, Clarke & Slater to come... should have enough batting to chase the modest target of 208.

I just got home from it. Very disappointing WA.

Although the guy that caught the six (and won $400) was sitting pretty close to me so that was exciting. The PA guy announced it and everyone was cheering until he said "He is from Detriot, USA" then all of a sudden everyone starts booing ;).

Steve just got out.

NSW wrapped it up in 27 overs.

WA's top order collapse hurt them alot, but their tail was entertaining at least. It would have been nice to see Steve's knock...friggen Channel 9.

I know there is no chance of it happening... but Tugga should be at the World Cup.

Perhaps.

But the thing I am confused about is where have Tugga's one day batting performances for NSW of the past month been for the past few years. When in the Australian team he appears to have been so insistent that all risky shots bee eliminated from his batting he kept making those 25's or 30's off 50 odd balls.

Why the change?

Back to back titles for NSW - a nice performance which makes it a complete mystery why they haven't been competitive in the Shield for years.

Channel 9 is evil.

even though i didnt get an opportunity to see the end of the match... well done NSW, bunch of champions, add to that they are always the side most decimated by players away for representative honours... having said that, we are lucky to have a few players in that blues line-up that are probably good enough to make the ODI squad in south africa anyway, the waughs, macgill and clarke just to name a few.

on a more sour note..... channel nine you've outdone yourself. a ****ing airport show?? go **** yourself gary burns

Yes, very annoyed - who wants to see a Canadian Airlines guy who needs to find an extra package of baby food or an El Al passanger who has fainted.

I think Campbell should have opened with Langer, even though WA never really had much hope against such a strong NSW team.

at least they showed the highlights later, albeit at 11:30.

Steve Waugh showed once again that he is the best batsman in Australia at the moment

I agree with Justin Langer's comment at the press conference - Steve Waugh would be mad not to play on and go to the West Indies. He's playing as well as he ever has, and following on from his century in the last Test he certainly has the runs on the board.

I can't remember a season in which Steve Waugh has scored his runs at such a high Strike Rate in One Dayers as he has done this year

there has been once before in his career where he has completely revolutionised the way he bats. it happened around 1992-93 when he was first dropped from the test side. he became a far less flashy player and more of a grinder.

since getting dropped for a second time in his career, i reckon he is again revolutionising the way he bats. he's batting more like he used to pre mark waugh. i'd still love to see him pull out the hook and pull shot. great pull off brad williams in the final though.. went for 6.

I think youll find NSW have won 3 in a row. WA,QLD,WA. An even more impressive feat when you consider they have won all 3 away from home AND on the 2 grounds they always seem to struggle at (In Shield matches anyway). The depressing part (for me ) is the fact that in their first 2 title wins, they just pipped SA for a spot in the final :(
