Just when it seemed we had fielded the worst team we will place on the field all year, the injury curse has hit again.

Out of the Stkilda game;

* Travis Cloke = Hamstring
* Josh Fraser = posterior cruciate ligament
* Dane Swan = Knee
* Dale Thomas = General Soreness

At least we will get Medhurst, Davis and Anthony back next week, how we need all 3.

Any updates on these injuries and how long each player may be out will be appreciated.

Article from pies website about injuries and MM after match PC.

You'd imagine that at least Fraser and Cloke will miss and with the short turnaround Thomas and Swan will be up against it too.

Anthony is the only guaranteed 'in' for the Carlton game - hopefully Medhurst and Davis are available.

We seem to be attracting injuries every week now and often to key players.. this will de-rail our season if it continues much longer.

You would expect that if Fraser goes out, L Brown would as well, as it is a unique ruck structure that they both inhabit. If Fraser misses, his replacement won't be playing 90% ruck time as he did, and therefore would need a proper back up rather than a part timer.

I would expect both Bryan and Wood to come in, with Fraser and L Brown out. Bryan to be used up forward also when not on the ball.

We will certainly be up against it against the Blues next week... We went from being only a win away from 3rd spot to being only percentage off 3rd bottom. Massive swing. There are a lot of 8 point games coming up...

Wood has been/is injured according to this list. Its says back for r7 but who knows? Maybe thats why L Brown has been in

even if fraser is gonna be ok for this week, L Brown needs some time in the 2's to practice his shots under pressure... and set shots!!

there is nothing like the scoreboard to decide who is on top in a game!

St Kilda would have had to change up their structure if Collinwood had kicked 4.1... but we will never know will we .... Brown and Corrie!!!

Beams will come back in for Swan... not the best situation but it will give him more game time... lets see what this kid can do!:cool:

Swanny's too tough to be rested, probably needs a full ACL reco but told the medical staff "It will be right boys" and continued on.

When he did the injury he got clothes lined (which should be a reportable offence), then he got the free, kicked backwards and had the balls to make 2-3 more leads before the runner demanded he go off, was gutsy stuff.

I wasn't watching the game, just listening to it and they didn't talk about this/didn't hear it.

But after reading that my man crush for Swanny has increased ten fold. :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Agreed.

I love swanny, (DT is a great thing). I know it looked bad and whether he misses or not will depend on how he pulls up, but I cant understand how people are automatically ruling him out.

He was only hobbled for a minute or so after the incident- he walked it off.

He stayed on the ground for a bit.

He went down to the rooms but didnt stay very long.

According to Cummings on 3AW, he tried to go back on but was overruled by the medical staff (I guess they didnt want a richo/cousins incident)

The club described it as minor.

Fingers crossed.

Edit: just found this

'Walsh said midfielders Dane Swan and Dale Thomas were sore but should be right to play this week.'

:eek: Nearly fell of my chair when I saw that he was anything but 1-2 weeks away!! Looks like the boy might come in to justify my name!! Thought it was the worst week for him tho; with Anthony coming back in and Rocca looking like he's still got a bit to offer he mightn't have been able to squeeze in but with Cloke out and lots of droppings imminent, he honestly may come straight in. Cloke's been PATHETIC all year, never want a player to be injured but maybe he needs the time to sit back and work out where his career's going. Maybe MM might learn that he's a forward in the meantime as well.

Davis should play, worried about Medhurst's season actually - think the injury's more serious than they're letting on. Last few games he's played he's been fine when quiet, then he gets involved a few times in a few minutes and is off injured and it's taken them this long to realise there's actually something wrong with him.

At quarter time I knew we were gonna lose but I was genuinely pleased with the way we played up til that point, don't think it's all doom and gloom IF we can get some of these players back.
