"While his inclusion would be a bolt from the blue, he has been training with the main group for the past couple of weeks and has looked in good shape, so it would come as no surprise to see him join the squad on the flight to Melbourne"

mmmm is it worth the risk! Play a game of WAFL then come back for the Geelong game.

Na I really think we should give it a crack I mean im sure he is fine. What could go wrong? (levels of sarcasm can not be expressed by emoticon).

Selwood doesn't seem like the sort of guy that can just come straight back and play well. He really needs some WAFL time. I know there isn't a game this week but I'd be happy for him to wait another couple.

It's a no to Selwood for me.

Get him to play WAFL next week then come in the week after against North.
Gives him a week off, a WAFL game then 3 games of AFL before the bye.

He will either sink or swim.

Made a comment on FB... I have a feeling beyond a Priddis or Sheed role he may be redundant.. we don't generally seem to tag, we are all about fast pin point transition and I think that is beyond his capabilities. I could be wrong, but history doesn't lie...

I'll be filthy if Selwood is brought straight back in without playing a WAFL game first.

He compromised the team last year by playing when injured and not disclosing the true extent of that injury to medical staff. Then in his rush to get back into the side he came back too early and further damaged his ankle unnecessarily which then compromised his preseason. A scenario that was repeated in Round 1 when an underdone Selwood struggled to run out the game robbing us of running power late in a close game and again his ankle injury flared up.

Twice now he has been brought back too soon after delaying his initial withdrawal from the side so he should absolutely be coming back through the WAFL, partly to ensure he is over his injury, partly to get match fitness/touch and finally to earn his spot in a side that is performing pretty well at the moment

I understand your thoughts. I don't believe any member of the Selwood family, would intentionally place their team in jeopardy, period. Regarding non disclosure I think he thought he could play through pain and get better, Selwoods do that. I also think he genuinely believed each time he came back he was practically there and could help the team by playing as soon as possible. I reckon he continually tried to do the best for the team by putting his own health/injuries second. It's an admirable quality in many ways but as we know, it can back-fire.

I think we all admire players that are prepared to play through pain but what disappointed be most was that he didn't disclose just how much pain he was in. I've been critical of our medical staff but it does make their job harder if players aren't being honest

That said it was obvious that selwood was playing under duress last year but we persisted in playing him when it should have been clear he wasn't up it despite what he was (or wasn't saying)
