Injury Injury thread 2017

Basically used as a motor learning tool to improve vertical jump (push off phase) as an example as it is multi joint movement that should result in improved strength, power, sensorimotor control/coordination. The chaos circuit he is doing there is basically training his central nervous system to self organize movement efficiently under fatigue which hopefully will mean his fear of reinjury will reduce and there will be reduced overprotection of the affected knee joint. All of which should reduce chances of re-occurrence of an injury as you said.
Cheers mate...
So do you cartwheel?
And how many minutes a day would you recommend?? [emoji854][emoji856][emoji15]

It just seems weird that they would ask injured people to cartwheel if they had never done one before. You'd think there would be a huge risk of further injury if they were struggling to pull it off while they learned how to do one

Anywho
Try and do a one legged squat on an unstable surface with weight. On second thoughts maybe not.The squats with EMS sounds like torture too.

I'll stick to simulated drowning in the pool and bike riding.

Cavka retired due to a degenerative foot condition that he wasn't going to get over. Not sure how that relates to Venables other than the fact that DV had a stress fracture injury when he was drafted that he is now over.

SPP (pick 18) was the only one out of that group that was drafted in the first round. Partington (28), Mutimer (57), Karpany (31) and Snadden (rookie draft) all went considerably later so sorry but the argument that SPP overtaking them means our drafting is rubbish is nonsense.

Who in the past 2-3 drafts have turned out to be confirmed dud picks?

It would have been nice to get a player who was able to impact from round 1 of his debut season but I'd sacrifice the initial impact if that meant the player was better over the stretch of his career. It doesn't count for much yet but personally I expect Venables to be a very good midfielder and as unlikely as it may seem now, SPP looms as a potential trade option somewhere down the line (which wouldn't be the case with Venables).

The recruiting is either bad or unlucky.Cavka.Alex Waterman,Will Maginnis,Scott Allen, and now Venables.I think Allen will be a lot better then Lamb if he can get and stay on the field.Venables may be a potentially better then spp if he can get on the field and actually play a decent game,Riolli may be better then Cripps. The problem at the moment is the three best prospects are injury riddled and I am not convinced the others will be the saviours you think.i see them at wafl level nearly every week.

Alec Waterman and Will Maginnes both had their careers cut short due to bouts of glandular fever - that's definitely luck. Cavka we took a calculated risk on him with pick 66 and it didn't pay off. Similarly Matt Allen was taken in the 60's and is still on the list. Rioli was taken with pick 51 and while he has weight issues he doesn't have a history of injury.

It is true that's it's not ideal to have these guys getting injured but only Venables was drafted in the top 50 and while he's had a bad run there's nothing to suggest there are long term injury concerns. It sounds like the club have probably been more cautious than they need to have been with him this year to be honest.

The saviours I think? Where did I say anything about them being our saviours? I think you have just plucked that from betwixt your cheeks.

NN looks lean. Thats a good sign to how close he is getting.

"IF... the Eagles get past the Pies this week, the Lions next week, and the Saints in round 20 ... THEN ... do they unleash Nic Nat for the home game against Carlton in round 21, with the Giants and Crows to follow? Almost certainly. And wouldn't that add an intriguing storyline to this already fascinating AFL season?"

WTF is going on with Lycett? Some news today maybe? Seems crazy that Naitanui possibly more of a chance than him now at this point.

The coach that stood on Venables toe should be put in the stocks and pummelled with rotten tomatoes.
I feel like we've got to be past the point now where we're believing that story.

****. Season over for Venables confirmed. It sounded like it was more just a fitness issue that cause his stagnated recovery but that can't be true now.
