This double bonus in this is it removes the decay in the line up that keeps on keeping on...JON, Hyde , Tivers, and a few more will all be struggling to hold their spots...the best thing we can hope for now is NO injuries and some more miles into the legs of simmo and Cogs:thumbsu:

Throw in Connors. We need grunt, and something that rhymes with it.

im with getting conners in too.

lets try and really develop him this season - if cogs does get fit, conners can come on and king keep doing his thing - it will really help some grunt in the bottom of the packs next season.

sick of lossing and looking like pussies.

I honestly think that finals this year was always going to extremely difficult. Lets try and develop them a bit more this season though.

good forward line it becomes more dangerous if you trow in polak but i dont think you can just stick coughlan right in the center after two years out of it he needs to be eased in

Tivendale shouldn't be dropped at all - he was one of our better performers on Friday night. Why can't people see the stuff he does on-field? He didn't turn it over at all from what I saw )which is more than can be said for many of his team mates) and he set up a number of our inside-50s.

I'd love to see Cogs go straight into the top level, but I'm doubtful that it'll happen. Think Browny when he returned - Cogs will probably play the first couple in the Burgers to make sure he's absolutely right. Bu of course I'm not the coach.

Thursfield will definately be back. McGuane should be back depending on how his pre-season's gone. I REALLY want to see Polo start in the middle.

Edwards is injured at the moment so may not be match fit for Round 1.

Tivendale should be there too. Hyde and JON definately better not be there. Obviously Cartledge and Silvester can't play unless they are promoted.

Thursfield
Cogs
Polo
Schulz

I want to see all of them in for Round 1 and I hope Casserly plays against the Blues too.

Friday Nights Line Up:
B: King Silvester Bowden
HB: Newman Moore Tuck
C: Tivendale Johnson McMahon
HF: Pettifer Polak Deledio
F: Brown Richo Riewoldt
R: Simmonds Tambling Foley
I: Cartledge Pattison Casserley JON Hyde Jackson Morton

How I would like to see the line up for Round 1:

B: King Thursfield McGuane
HB: McMahon Polak Bowden
C: Newman Tuck Polo
HF: Pettifer Richo Tivendale
F: Brown Deledio Riewoldt
R: Simmonds Tambling Foley
I: Pattison Morton Moore Johnson
E: Schulz Jackson Edwards

Out from NAB Cup: Carltedge JON Hyde Silvester Casserley
Italics - different position to the NAB Cup game.
Bold - additions to the NAB Cup game.
I think that line up would give us the best chance against the Blues. Dangerous forward line especially when you consider Carltons inexperienced backline. Solid backline with smart ball users. Hard ball winning midfield with plenty of pace to boot against a slower Carlton midfield.

Regarding Coughlan I would like to see him play a couple of rounds at Coburg before returning to AFL level. After 2 years out he surely needs some match time to get his confidence and match fitness up before being expected to return to AFL level.

( If a Carlton poster reads this, can I ask you to select your likely round 1 line up and post it below as I would like to get an idea on how the 2 sides may matchup)

cogs will come in following a few praccy games, I read he knocked upo 25 disposals on Sat....I wouldnt expect that out on his return however he offers a fierce contest in the clinches which means the likes of Harvey dont get it all their own way

i really like this team, except i would swap Tivendale for Polo only for insurance for the backline, the backline is pretty tall and he would just be able to cover a team with an extra small forward, aswell as being able to push into the middle for a few minutes. also if Casserly keeps performing at coburg and McMahon doesn't he should be swapped even if he starts there instead of McMahon would be ok. good alround structure as long as richo and schulz work in tandom and not in each others way and the rest of the forward line create space foreach other and the backline double team and help each other in the air and when the ball hits the ground, but most importantly if our midfielders aren't getting the ball they keep pressuring tackling and harrasing the opposition, creating the mistakes and not making them ourselves.

i like this team too no tivs and johnson would make it better with polo in and possibly and forward like riewoldt or huges b/c morton can play bak ther aswel so we might not need mcguane, his disposal isnt to flash onli reason i dont prefer him.:thumbsu:

B :McGuanne Thursty Moore
HB :Bowden Polak Coggs
C :Newman Tuck Polo
HF :Petts Richo Morton
F : Brown Schultz Lids

Simmo Foley King

Int. Reiwoldt , Pato , Collard/ Edwards/Connors/Tambling
BOLD those added.
Based it on Collard obviously being promoted and tried to inject some run, delivery and directness into midfield.
Would also like to see Lids and Brown rotate with sperts into midfield.

B: King, Thursfield, Moore
HB: Bowden, Polak, McMahon
C: Newman, Coughlan, Tambling
HF: Deledio, Richo, PEttifer
F: Brown, Schulz, Morton

Int: reiwoldt, Pattison, Edwards, connors

this is the team i would be happy with come rnd1
plenty of versatility & speed &balance
but wallace really needs to work
on the skill levell before rnd1

I dont know what the rest of you thought, but i didnt mind that cartledge blokes game, not a bad size, everytime he did something half decent he was benched though.
Don't think tivvers will be dropped was one of the only players that should be happy about his game.

i like this line up Mcguane will play if fit. connors should fit in somewherei think i like his fight. him an king have guts love the way king plays
morton shouldn't start in the forwad line tho. Lids will start there tambling in lids spot on the half forward an morton on the wing i reaction.

i'm hoping brown speeds more time on the ball this year.
most of this team has been playing together a while they should really gel well.

Is Meyer injured or just out of favour?

He has had a severe injury creeping up on him all of last year and over this pre-season which is just fading away now.

Should be picked for a practice match in 2 weeks or so and will need to build up fitness from there, so essentially this is his 3rd year again.

Sorry this Tivvers/Tiva went alright thing on Friday night annoys me, as it does everytime I see him play. 3 times, when we had the assendency he turned the ball over directly or got caught early in the game. He continues to kick the ball to a flank or pocket and refuses to take the game on and thru the guts instead chooses to go behind the mark. Furthermore, give me a game where he has had more impact on the game than his opponent, and i aint talking about some cheap kick which goes forward 10 mtrs and 20 mtrs wide or returns over his head . If he got dropped off our list he would not get a game else where, rest assure its been tried and he aint impoving, so the potential word does not apply either.
It's old style, Johnson does the same thing and Bowden, granted has been a great player for the club, is guilty of it sometimes as well, let's wake up, for the last umpteen years we have had the highest contested mark taker, Richo, yet have failed to be successfull, look at Geelong they made two significant changes last season, played down the centre of the ground and played on at every opportunity.:eek::eek:

i am putting the cash on us for the first round...price is going to be right..
but please lets just cut to the chase huh? if hyde, tivendale and tuck still make our side, then we havent gone anywhere in improvement.

B: Newman, Thursfield, McGuane
HB: Connors, Polak, McMahon
C: Edwards, Foley, Deledio
HF: Morton, Richo, Pettifer
F: Brown, Schulz, Tambling
R: Simmonds, Coughlan, Polo
Int: Johnson, Pattison, Cartledge(insurance), Casserley

;)

Ins? But weren't we playing our full strength squad on Friday?

INS: Connors, Polo, Thursfield, Cogs, Edwards, McGuane/Schulz

OUTS: JON, Tivendale/McMahon, Hyde, Casserley, Silvester, Cartledge

as if Mcmahon would be dropped:eek:, I suppose we have a plethora of players that can find it and use it
