In 2009 Gazza played his 150th game at AAMI stadium against the crows and we essentially won the flag. Will Jimmy's milestone game at the same stadium against the same opponent be a hint?
Also in 2007 Josh Hunt played his 99th game at the GF and in 2009 Joel Corey played his 199th game at the GF. We won both of them. In 2008 Corey Enright played his 150th game at the GF and oddly we let the dark horse win.
This year if we win both qualifying and preliminary final, Travis Varcoe will play his 100th game at the GF, unless he misses one of six remaining matches. So will Chirs Scott superstitiously withdraw Varcoe for one of them?
And Wojo needs to play all 6 remaining matches so he can line up for his 199th game at the GF

We have won most, if not all, our milestone games since 2007. They don't make a big fuss pre-game but still get it done and Jimmy deserves a chairlift after a win this week.

Only one I remember that the Cats haven't won was Andrew Mackie's 100th game a few years back. I think they've just about won all the others.

Of course, I stand to be corrected by people who have a better recollection than me:p

We won the flag? It was only Round 4!

Interesting post, but suggesting we had it sewn up by Round 4 is stretching it just a little bit. :D

You are right, Mackie's 100th game was a defeat by Carlton.
But to play milestone games in GF is not common to see. Enright's experience, compared with Hunt and Corey's, gives me this strange thought.:p

I know it's only rd 4 that year.
But don't you think that is some sort of coincidence? That two of our players(one of them leaving) plays their respective milestone games in the same away stadium against the same opponents.

199 is not a milestone game and I suspect even if it were his 300th, he would be distracted from the fact by the possibility of a Premiership.

Milesetone games for us atm are only mildly interesting to the players as it gives them some slight more incentive for non-key games. Apart from taht, I doubt they give it much thought at all until the game's over.

Way to support your fellow cat's fan guys...the guy puts up some interesting statistics and half of you shoot it down...good blokes...

Also, I don't think he was 'suggesting' we had it sewn up in round 4...

In fairness...what's "interesting" about a couple of guys playing 99th and 49th games? They aren't milestones. And it certainly can't have been a serious suggestion that CS would rest a player for some extremely long-bowed superstition?
The OP has obviously seen some facts that piqued his/her interest and other posters have suggested that there may be less to it than meets the eye.
Hardly "shooting him down", unless you man that some people pointed out the flaws in the post.

Interesting stat for sure, one of those things that occurs from time to time. If it means Bartel will have 46 possessions on Sunday and we'll win comfortably I'll take that now thanks!

However, to me it's a statistical anomaly, curious but nothing more.

And if we lose our first final, but somehow get to the GF, Wojo may be playing his 200th with TV possibly playing his 100th if he is in fact out this week.

Anyone playing a "milestone" game in a final wouldn't give a rat's toss-bag.
