Interesting quote from lids

Was just reading an article on RFC website with Brett Deledio. I found one of his quotes quite interesting when asked about finals this year....

"But what can you say? In the end, I don't think it's such a bad thing that we didn't make it, because it'll make us hungrier to make it next year, and we won't just rest on our laurels.

"We'll strive to do bigger and better things next year."

I'm almost certain there would be people who post on this thread that would raise an eyebrow to that comment, so i'm interested to hear what ppl have to say...

Pleased to hear it. I reckon spot on.
Could only see harm from scraping in to the finals this year, as teams so often do (end up going backwards following year as reckon (attitude becomes) "they're there").

I interpret thta as conceding that we weren't a fair dinkum chance, we can build on this year and give 2009 a real tilt,, well said Lids, couldnt have put it better myself

I love Lids. Those days that he is on fire, I wouldn't trade him for no-one. God I hope he keeps getting better.

Personally i agree with what he's saying, because it will make the boys hungrier for next season.

You could also argue that had they got there it would have been a fantastic experience and that may have spurred them on to bigger and better things next year to be able to get there again...

It sorta sounds like it was a case of "we aren't gunna do anything in the finals, so better to stay out of it" kind of attitude. That's how i interpret it anyway, and i find that a bit strange considering they are professionals and finals are what they play for. All probability would say that we'd be no hope to do anything in finals, but you gotta be in it to win it as they say!
