Dane Swan has collected 593 disposals this year.

The record for most disposals since statistics started in a year was 756 in 1997 by Robert Harvey.

Chris McDermott holds the record for most disposals, not including finals with 720 in 1992.

Tony Shaw holds the record for most disposals for the Pies with 736, second to Harvey on the leaderboard for his 1990 year.

So Swanny needs:

164 disposals in six games (providing we make it to the second week/third week with quarter final win of finals), at an average of 27.33 disposals a game to take the record off Harvey.

144 disposals in the same amount of time at an average of 24 disposals a game to take the record off Shaw.

127 disposals in his remaining four games of the season at an average of 31.75 disposals to take the record off Chris McDermott. While this may seem massive, he's currently averaging 32.9 disposals a game.

Barring injury I think he has a good chance of taking the first two records, and could well break McDermott's record as well.

I know this isn't important, but I thought its a fun fact that we can support Swanny over :p

Being the Brownlow favourite is a bit of a Poison Chalice....how many favourites have won it?

It would have been nice if he wasn't such an ugly footballer.
what are you on about?

It doesnt matter how flashy or aesthetically pleasing you are, it only matters that you get the job done. Swan gets the job done and usually very well, he is a bust his ass, run all day mid not some outside look at how flashy i am, soft piece of piss mid prime example Danyle Pearce, and Dal Santo until this year

He is an ugly footballer, want me to spell it out for you. I never said he was crap, I never said he doesn't get the job done and I never said he takes a backwards step. He is just an ugly footballer, a damn good one at it though (as in very effective). :)

Huh?
The man's a fine looking footballer and plays some pretty good looking footy to boot...and I'm a bloke.

What specifically do you find ugly about Swan?
I didn't say he is an ugly man, I said an ugly footballer.

and i was pointing out it doesnt matter how good you look while doing it as long as you do it well

LOL...Wait'll Snag get a hold of you....:D
No such think as an "ugly footballer" at Collingwood.

I'll have to debate you on that one, we had a few ugly footballers in the late 90's

It's heartening seeing Swan being compared to Harvey, who always polled well in the Brownlow, winning a couple too.

I'd back Swanny to beat Shaw's and Harvey's record, but with one week of 25 disposals or less he wont be the regular season record of McDermott, making it hard to succeed at this one.

Good luck Swanny, go break some records.:thumbsu:

Aaron James would have to win that one hands down. Not only was he an ugly f-arker but he was a complete tosser too :thumbsd: and thats being kind.

I've seen a lot of your games this year as well as nearly everyone elses, and only now I'm hearing Goodes, Ablett and Judd etc, etc mentioned for the Brownlow.

If Dane Swan doesn't win the Brownlow this year by a mile, than the Brownlow is seriously corrupt. Most consistent player in the AFL all year. Nobody could possibly come near him. But we are dealing with umpires, right?

Swan gets to every contest, the epitome of gut-running.

Truly deserves a Brownlow.
He's a star. Elite. He deserves it.

(And thanks for kicking our ass too!) ;)

Thats his strength hey, i read somewhere on the forums the other day, saying Swan always gets cheap goals in the goal square. He puts himself in the right position and pushes to more contests than anyone, such a smart player.

Just cant believe his progress in the last 3 years, its been outstanding.

Still only 25 aswell, lots of good years ahead of him.
