lol Melbourne is a dreary grey dump, apart from some big concrete stadiums and coffee there's bugger all there.

Love Melbourne personally. So much to like about it. I couldn't really stand living in Perth anymore.

At the Adelaide v Hawthorn final last year Hawks fans outnumbered Crows fans yet the Crows fans were much louder.

I remember back in 2007 the eagles playing a couple of Friday night games at Etihad, recall one was against Essendon and the other not sure maybe st kilda or Bulldogs, I was in the city both those nights and was stunned at how many eagles fans were walking around, the trams were packed with them. I know they were reigning premiers at the time but the sheer numbers blew me away. Even more surprisingly after the game as I was taking the tram home the Eagles fans were getting off at pretty much every stop, obviously locally based.

West Coast and Adelaide fans have always had a large contingency, Sydney and Brisbane have South Melbourne and Fitzroy support groups, respectively.

But Freo, Port, GC, and GWS rarely have more than 1000-2000 fans at Melbourne games.

But yeah, WC and Crows fans come in droves. You have both the travel factor -- coming to Melbourne for a weekend trip -- as well as expats living in the city and bandwagoners who jumped onto the Eagles or Crows in the 90s.

I remember one game between Melbourne at WC at Etihad in 2011. 15,000 at the same, around 10,000 Eagles fans lol

Been to most Port games in Melb this year, you had around 4-5k at the North and were very loud, not sure you cracked that much at the other games, though. Wasn't a crack at Port, just an observation. Adelaide fans being generally older tend to be more likely to come to Melbourne for a weekend than Port fans (based on my own observation). WC and Crows fans tend to take over the city when they're in town. Freo and Port fans, not so much.

I wouldn't be against relocating all West Coast supporters to Melbourne. Would certainly make WA a much better place to live
