the boys looked really good today.....

- Setanta's contested marking was outstanding, whilst he stuffed up a few kicks his presence was very good
- murphy looked really comfortable playing against men, will definately play wizard cup and probably alot of games this year
- little bit worried about russell and walker, walker wasnt to bad, but half the time they run around like headless chickens....
-lance was outstanding across half back made everyone else look crap! Looks fit too. Good signs
- Fev was good, and probably gave us the best highlight of the day tacking a screamer
- mclaren wasnt outstanding but had a few hit outs against French.
- One player who really annoyed me was justin davies who didnt go in hard, and really looked like he wasnt trying
- betts was good roaming around the ground
- blackwell got a bit of the ball in the middle which was good
- hartlett showed a few good signs.... i clearly think he should be in the team over Livingston, who again showed today that really he isnt very good

what did anyone else think who were there?

agree with most things there...lancey boy is flyin'...but then again he was flyin this time last year...but looked good and covered a lot of ground

walker looks lost IMO...did some stupid things ...needs to lift

murphy looks the goods...will def play very soon

setanta looked good..did some smart things in close...left foot soccer kick in traffic to player running past...got a big cheer from where i was

mclaren and eddie moved well...in particular little betts...played bit of midfield and did well..

fev was fev...looked lazy at times then looked very good....

was happy with what i saw but not WOW...

I heard that there were no injuries. Frankly, that's where my interest begins and ends with this intra-chumba-womba.

As Pagan would say, "It's like dancing with your sister". - What a classic line. :p :thumbsu:

PLease stop trolling Carlton threads and boards :thumbsd:

Aisake played but looked very very rough......

to tell you the truth I was excited just watching kennedy from the sideline.....the guys a monster.

No injuries is the the best part of the day.
I really can't wait till we play the good old bombers, i know one bloke (sc) who should get the hoots and maybe get some banners made up and rally all the members for the biggest boos ever! Didn't expect anything else from a bloke whose best mate is aaron hamill.

It's funny seeing the same old culprits that can't stay away from the Lance thread on the main board but can't bring themselves to admit that he has lost the weight. They are debating points that haven't even been made.

It's pretty damning evidence of their lack of objectivity ..... and somehow we are the lemmings.

Seriously folks, look at the avoidance on this thread.
http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=224829

Nobody cared about whether Lance was fat or not, they only cared that he stayed that way so they could use it. Not one person on that thread outside of Carlton supporters is able to acknowledge that he has actually done the work to get where he is.

Bookmark that thread if you ever want to show a lack of objectivity folks, it is there is bucketloads.

That's the biggest problem on Bigfooty, right there. No one will give anyone credit for anything... unless you're that team's supporter. Even when you try to say something nice, no one will care. If you want any attention on these boards you have to make a cheap low-brow comment, then just sit back and wait for a chuckle or two.

Some of these posters live for it. Zeke especially, and JD whenever the topic is about one of the other 15 clubs.

It's like a damn schoolyard.

Try discussing the issue of Bryce Gibbs with a South Australian if you want to see a lack of objectivity. Especially good discussion when they accuse you of not understanding why the SA clubs have been treated poorly.

There are now 92 pages on Bryce Gibbs.

Intra-club practice match report: Carlton
WHO MISSED
Jason Saddington (knee) had arthroscopy on Wednesday, will return in three to four weeks. Nick Stevens (calf) had a scan during week, and is expected to play in NAB Cup. Josh Kennedy (shoulder) is expected back in three to four weeks. Jake Edwards (finger) is still two weeks away. Anthony Raso (glandular fever) is expected to resume in three to four weeks.

WHO'S BACK
Brendan Fevola (groin surgery) was a bit rusty in his first competitive hitout but emerged unscathed after three quarters. Kade Simpson (finger) slipped quietly back into action after missing last week.

WHO'S NEW
Marc Murphy, the No. 1 draft pick, impressed with a consistent on-ball performance. Paul Bower had a tough time in defence coping with an explosive Setanta O'hAilpin. Dylan McLaren acquitted himself well in the ruck against Barnaby French and Adrian Deluca.

EARLY FORMGUIDE
With most of Carlton's senior players in the red team, and its younger faces in white, the game itself was a mismatch until several stars switched sides at half-time.

The Blues looked sharp enough early, though the skills and competitiveness waned after the break.

O'hAilpin's form was the clear highlight, the big, strong Irish key forward kicking a couple of early goals, giving away a couple more, leading well and marking strongly.

Lance Whitnall looks in good nick, and played accordingly at centre half-back. Skipper Anthony Koutoufides shone in the half he played, Fevola needed the run but did take a great contested pack mark, while Ryan Houlihan, Adam Bentick and Luke Blackwell also stood out.

POSITION WATCH
The Blues didn't go overboard with experimentation. Whitnall stayed at centre half-back, where he's likely to spend most of this season. Regular defender David Teague spent some time up forward, and Brad Fisher got busy pushing back up the ground from half-forward.

THE NEW RULES
Nothing notable from this game, save for the obviously quicker kick-ins after a behind, the Blues using the opportunity to work on some set plays, an area in which coach Denis Pagan conceded afterwards Carlton still needs plenty of work.

WHAT THE COACH SAID
"A lot of positive things came out of it, things that we'd worked on over the pre-season. There's still things we need to improve on, but our ball movement and usage was quite good."
- DENIS PAGAN

WHAT PLAYERS SAID
"Being a young side, there's been a lot of emphasis on weights and putting weight on. Probably over the first two years compared to now, I notice that the blokes are a lot bigger in the drills and hitting the bags a lot harder."
- DAVID TEAGUE

Just between us Carlton supporters, it's not Pagan's line but Allan Jeans's
