A mate grabbed that the other day and said it was good but I didn't really look into it.

Hey Lads, phone deing delivered today and I'm new to this iPhone caper.

What are the 'must have' apps, both practical and time wasters?

Thanks.

Ouch. Optus called me about 6 weeks ago and upgraded me to an iPhone 4, 6 months before my contract ended, because I have (or more accurately, my mum, whose name my account is still under, has) been a long-term customer. I received the phone 2 weeks later. :o

I tried to get an upgrade today, got told my contract doesn't end until March but I could call them back in December to see if they would switch me over early.

Pretty annoying really, I was at work so didn't bother to fight or ask how much it would cost to terminate my contract early.

I am also with Optus and have been for a good 10 years or so now.

Yeah, it makes little sense that they would rather upgrade their existing contract customers than sign up new customers and consolidate their profits.

Either way I have my new iPhone 4 now compliments of Harvey Norman, so i'm content. What I have learnt, though, is never to buy directly through Optus from now on as they are a complete shambles. :thumbsd:

I'll suggest ESPN Score Center and Fanvibe from a US sports point of view.

Doesd anyone have the issue that I'm currently battling? My phone is obviously set to activate 'voice control' by pushing the home button for a couple of seconds. So whenever I put my phone in my jeans pcket and sit down, it must push down the home button because it then sets about calling half my bloody phonebook. I have a cover on it, but it still manages to do this, almost everyt ime without fail. Have tried to find out how to deactivate it through 'settings' but can't seem to find the right route anywhere.

Anyone got any ideas?

Anyone else having problems updating to 4.1? I did it today, but I can't download Apps from the App Store anymore. Everything else works perfectly (iTunes, Cydia, Safari), but when I try to download Apps, they turn grey and are stuck saying 'Waiting'.

I'm getting so frustrated, anyone know how to fix this? The web hasn't really helped.

Settings - General - Passcode Lock - Voice Dial OFF

But to disable that you must set a Passcode.

Any reason why when I get a mms, it sends me a link to retrieve a pxt or something? Seems a bit weird.

That happened to me once. When I received it, I only had 2G reception, so it sent a link.

I told my mate, so next time I saw him, he sent me another MMS, this time I had 3G reception and the message came through fine, no link.

Cheers mate.

I just tried it. Not much of an option is it? Either a) set a passcode and have to enter that every single time you use your phone; or b) don't set one, and put up with my phone calling half its address book every time I have it in my jeans.

Thanks for the response anyway though. :thumbsu:

I guess you can set it so you only need to use the passcode if you haven't used the phone for more than four hours. (Settings > General > Passcode Lock > Require Passcode > 4 hours).

The other option is to jailbreak I guess.

Probably a stupid question but how do I transfer photos and videos back to my computer?

Sync?

Just have to have the option to sync photos and videos checked in iTunes I think

Not sure if anyone can help me, but I'm having some battery problems.

Usually I charge my phone overnight but if it's relatively full then I'll leave it overnight. But lately it's been draining alot. For example, last night I though I went to bed with it at 80%. Woke up with it at 25%. Thought it was my apps, so closed all of them and went to work with it at 50%. When I finished an hour ago it was 25%.

Anyone got any ideas?

Cheers.
