I have not been impressed with Brown the last few weeks and still think any power forward in the game will have a night out on him if in decent form.

For me Pavlich will destroy him if he plays forward majority of the night. Can't see Presti coming back in and travelling to Perth.

Do people have confidence in Brown on Pavlich? If not who are our other options?

Most of my confidence this week relies solely on Presti playing.

As good as Nathan Brown and Reid have been in recent weeks, you can't seriously expect either player to be able to restrict (and that's all you can do) a gun forward like Matthew Pavlich.

He is too quick and mobile for Brown, even though Brown has slimmed down from last year.

Presti's great strength has always been his awareness of the play and the player he is on, and this is something you can only develop over time.

Presti on Pav, he won't kick more then 3-4 if Presti plays on him, as he could have a night out if Brown or Reid play on him.

And the game Brown played on Pav 2 years ago, Pavlich actually had over 20 possessions still, so Brown's performance, even though it was in his first year, was over rated at the time.

If Pavlich goes in the middle he will maul Nathan Brown but Brown will play on him when he goes forward and no tag on him when he goes in the middle. Similar to Goodes when he plays against us, we dont tag him when he is in the middle and we still belt em everytime.

It isn't like he'll be doing it alone out there though, our backline succeeds week in and week out because we work together as a team exceptionally well down there for the most part. Would have thought Reid'd be the one to go to Pav before Brown though - am I deluded?

Reid had a heap of goals kicked on him at VFL level against Williamstown in round 1 of the VFL season, so I wouldn't want to see him on Pavlich. O'Hailpin also kicked 5 on him (not all his fault), as Reid seems better as an attacking CHB then a defensive one at this stage of his career.

Brown is the only starting option if Presti doesnt play, then names like Reid, O'Brien, Maxwell etc come into consideration if Pav starts killing Nate.

No because Presti will get him.

Man Pav is killing it at the moment though. Pav & Sandilands are coming 1st & 2nd in the AFLCA players award.

Freo beat the zone by kicking long to Sandilands who just whacks it over his head into space, where their quick runners scoop up the footy and run away from the zone defenders. Very good tactic.

Stopping or quelling these 2 will go a long way to winning the game.

I'm starting to warm to bringing in Presti to take on Pav. We don't want him to get hold of us. It would be nice to have a good win over there and I personally think we'll do them.

Fremantle ok, 6-1 congratulations to them, I would like to see them have a successful year, but when people talk about our draw and what we've accomplished to date in 2010 maybe they should also look at the Dockers who are 6-1 also.

So far we've beaten a bulldogs unit, red hot off the NAB Cup, scraped in against a much improved Melbourne, generally I feel we look average after playing at that etihad shithole, done by St. Kilda when we should've won (Ipersonally feel we set ourselves so hard for Riewoldt that we faltered without him there and lost our structures when he went off, smashed the hawks, smashed the dons, smashed an in form Carlton and smashed a kangaroos unit who have been ok of late while not playing the most convincing football.

Looking at Freo, they smashed Adelaide, which in hindsight wasn't a huge feat even though it may have looked ok in round 1, beat Essendon here which really isn't overly difficult, snuck over the top of Geelong missing their 2 most important players in Ottens and Scarlett after a well publicized ordinary pre-season, conceded 16 goals against a St. Kilda side without Riewoldt, struggling to score, and lost, struggled against Richmond until the last quarter to eventually pull away, struggled against West Coast to eventually pull away, and beat a Brisbane side missing Patfull, Maguire, Clark, Merrett, a half fit Brown and Drummond doing his ACL relatively early.

I think a lot of people are getting ahead of themselves as far as Freo are concerned.

I think if we can limit Pav and shut down Hill, we're a really good thing.

To me it seems so obvious that Presti will be back in this week.

He was rested against the teams that don't typically have power forwards that would hurt us. I don't believe he was badly injured but being managed through niggles.

He then was brought in for a VFL game last week to get a bit of touch and match fitness. I don't know why they would do that if it wasn't a forgone conclusion that they are planning on using him against Pavlich.

Brown has done OK on Pav in the past and if we must use him again then it won't be the end of the world however the choice between him and Presti isn't really a choice. Presti is just that good.

Bring in Presti, and play Toovey on Pavlich which will free up Presti to provide run and dash out of the backline.

It's probably a little left of centre, but Fremantle wouldn't have planned for it.

If we used this strategy I think Presti could end up with 7 maybe even 8 kicks for the game.

I can't see Presti getting rested up, only to fly him to Perth. doubt he will play this week.

That's excatly why he got rested up

presti will play on pavlich, we are throwing away an advantage otherwise

Presti will get him if he plays, provided Pav spends majority of time forward.

However, in the event Presti doesn't play, clearly Brown gets either him or the resting Sandilands as he is the "biggest body" key defender we have capable IMO. If Pav gets a hold of young Browny, so be it. He is in brownlow winning form at the moment. We just need to do the damage in the middle and the other way- this will force Pav to move into the midfield to try and get his team up and therefore we won't have to worry as much about his inside 50 dominance.

Yeah and 7 or 8 of those will be goals.

Presti needs to come in, I think. Although if Brown does end up playing on him, could Maxwell perhaps play a 3rd man up roll to help out?
