By the way Neil Craig has conducted himself over the past 2 days?

I reckon this bloke is the ideal man for the 'temporary' job. He is definitely going to have the players respect, which I honestly believe the 'name' players had lost for Gary Ayres. He is looking to make the Crows into a competitive unit and a '****-weak' effort which we appeared to get often under Gary Ayres will quite simply not be tolerated.

I also liked his line during today's press conference about, 'NO EMOTIONAL TIES' as far as coaching positions go. A coaching candidate for next season must have the right credentials, which I think is good if it continues, because I think the AFC is beginning to get a bit of the mentality of 'you pat my back, i'll pat yours.'

I'm hoping that over the next 9 weeks Neil Craig will be able to get some of the 'toughness' back into the Crows which has been missing in recent times. Neil Craig in my mind would be the right man to give our club a real reputation similar to the shin boner spirit of the Kangaroos.

Whether or not Craigy is the man for the full time job, well I guess the next 9 weeks will tell.

What do others think???

You make some very good points POPtiffscherry.

Give Craig the next nine weeks.

It is the process which is important and which we need to get right. If Craig can get this right he deserves the job.

Give the guy a chance. He hasnot even coached one game yet and people are on his back.

I have been an assistant coach before and your role is simply to support the head coach with the implemenation of his philososphy.

of course you provide ideas and initiative, but there can only be one number one man. You need to know your position and role very clearly so that you are seen to be supportive of the coach.

Now that Craig is free of these constraints we will see what he is made of and whether he is the Coaching future of the club.

Of course I'm impressed with the way Craig has handled himself in press conferences over the past 2 days.

He's an intelligent man and he speaks a lot of sense in a forthright honest manner. A diract contrast to the standard gobblededook that used to dribble from Gary Ayres mouth, which when you analyzed it amounted to nothing.

BUT, and there's always a but.

That bears no relationship to the ability to coach. The only Craig record that we can judge as far as coaching goes is a very ordinary effort with a stinking game plan as Norwood coach, plus he was part of the schmozzle that coached us to where we are now.

Even the next 9 games won't tell us anything about Craig's normal coaching at AFL level. The circumstances are abnormal for both coach and players.

You have to go by the whole package when you select a coach, and Craig's past efforts will have to be taken into account as well.

Don't forget, he's not the interim coach because he is the best prospect in Australia. He's in that role just because he happened to be there.

NOT BIG ENOUGH

Well yes, given the way we treat the planet, a clean sweep of humanity from the face of the Earth would not be unfair.
