Is anyone else laughing...

...at the overreaction from some of the Collingwood supporters on BF?

Last week the team were champions and heroes for beating the Bulldogs, now after a poor performance (in a game we still WON) they've written us off for another year.

Seriously, people need to get a grip. Yeah, we were shithouse today but it isn't the end of the world.

So far I've read on this board that:

Jolly is useless, Thomas is weak and doesn't do enough, Sidebottom should be dropped, Davis should be dropped, Malthouse should be sacked, Ball is useless, Fraser is hopeless (even though he was better than Jolly today)...

Some criticisms are warranted (Cloke has been horrible), but people are taking it way too far.

We're two rounds into the season, people. Relax. Smoke a bowl, take some meds, masturbate - whatever calms you down. It's not the end of the world.

Who knows, we might beat St. Kilda next week and you can go back to the hero worshipping.

I think most people were on such a high after last week that the tight victory against a wooden spoon team is a bit too much to bear.

I'll let next weeks performance by the team decide how I feel about the team. If they can perform like they did against the Bulldogs, then I'll be very pleased, but if the team that turned up today turns up next Friday, expect hell.

I really tried to not come here tonight. I just knew what the posts were all going to be....and yet alas here I am....

History will say that after 2 weeks of season 2010 Collingwood were 2 and 0.

That is all.

I'm not laughing, some of the bashing on here is stupidity at it's highest point.

Really, after one poor performance (which we still managed to win) plenty here are basically giving up and bagging our players mercifully again.

Yep, 2-0 is a good start, I'll take that.

Totally agree I'm new here and think some of the threads started here are just plan overkill.

Winning ugly when you play poorly is important during the year.

Seems that 50% of posters expect their side to be at their best every week and every player to be in career best form all of the time. That's the bit that makes me laugh the most.

More than happy with 2-0.

this board hasn't made me laugh with the overreaction, but get on the bay or the main board that's where the lulz are...

Only things I've been critical of have been Cloke and Didak, completely justified IMO, and want to point out that I've been saying the same thing about the two of them for a while now. Other than that I'm happy with the win and being 2-0. Most players will lift next week - I'd expect this to be one of worse performances of the year and we came away with the win, I'm more relieved then pissed.

Agree 100%.
These were the games we used to lose, that so many words were devoted too, but we found a way whilst playing shit. Just as important as winning against the Saints or Hawks.

I'm happy as a pig in shit. It's like a lotto win given the way we played.

its embarassing the comments people are making. Must admit ive bagged fraser, i bagged him last week in the win though, he needs to start doing something or hes going to be winding his career up in the vfl come this time next year.

2-0 cant be dissapointed with that , considering most woulda marked us down for a loss in round 1

The fact is, we got away with one. Good sides find a way to win even when they aren't playing well. Pies did that today, sure it was a little too close for comfort, but we still got the 4 points.

This was always a big danger game for us, melbourne were going to be fired up and looking to prove something, and the boys were going to be flat after the big buildup of last week. With 3 blockbusters in a row coming up they may have gotten a bit ahead of themselves, they are only human. Lose it and we undo all the good work last week, therefore was extremely important that we didnt drop it. Thankfully we didnt. Sure it would have been nice to get a percentage booster, but I am happy just with the 4 points.

Some people need to chill and enjoy the wins. Enjoy the close ones even more than the thumpings, because you know, these are the ones that really make other supporters bleed. I saw melbourne supporters in tears today, tears! Like they just lost a grand final, not round 2.

Yeah I will be the first to put my hand up and say I slightly over reacted on the other thread. I was just very disgusted at the time with the performance. Shouldn't have really come anywhere near bigfooty. I still think a few players need a massive lift i.e. Cloke and JA have been a bit disappointing, but I guess they weren't helped by a crowded forward line and non-existent delivery.

Now it has sunk in, I'm glad we got the win even when playing rubbish and now can just concentrate on the St K next week. It is round 2, just got a bit carried away with the heat of the moment.

The 'Melbourne/Collingwood Game Umpiring' thread in the Game Day forum is appalling, basically a whole load of bitter opposition supporters who thought they were going to get to see the Pies lose today, basically slinging shit on the club saying that we're a pack of cheats.

People need to get a life, seriously.

Harry would be proud of you.

Great good sense here.

It takes a big poster to say they overdid it.:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Ship righting itself already.

LOL.
You should have seen me last year after we got flogged by Carltoon at the "G" and I had just flown from Canberra also guesting a Carlton supporting mate the game as well, knowing full well we were going to get thumped with the outs we had.

I was only heartbeats from killing something yet the pain and anguish is as much a part of the experience as the joy and pride of a win.

I'm on the wagon for the full experience.
In it for the ride.

I don't think people are overreacting, just reacting. We played really badly against the worst side I've ever seen over an extended period. It's fair enough to dissect and criticise out team's performance. I don't think anyone has torn up their membership, more just been disappointed in how we played.
