Do you know what vermin means? Pet rats don't eat our crops, don't transmit disease and certainly don't chew on electrical wiring. You can't classify a domesticated animal as vermin - perhaps wild but in this case not so.

Never said in my post that a rodent was a dangerous as a dog.
Personally, I wouldn't own a rat or a Rottweiler, Pit Bull etc, even though they may be great pets. I don't consider a rat or mouse a pet as much as I consider any dog harmless. At least you reminded I have to walk the dog!
