NRL chief executive David Gallop painted the grim picture in response to comments from the Rugby League Professionals Association that the two bodies were miles apart after the latest round of talks over the collective bargaining agreement.
They will only go broke because they are lying about how much they are recieving from News Ltd, in particular their pay tv deal. They should be swimming in money when 400 million dollar deals are being bandied about when in reality they are receiving a pittance of that figure. But when News Ltd is "paying" the NRL, they can put whatever they want down on the balance sheet. It's all recycled funds.

I reckon the big thing is that the nRL is crap at negotiating TV deals. I don't think Gallopaway is a leader or a great CEO.

Channel 9 and fox can't afford to let RL get into too much trouble... they have nothing left to replace them with.

He is a hell of a lot better than the gutless muppets at AFL House.

I think Gallop is a great CEO, everyone agreed at the time that the TV deal was a good one, then the AFL gets a better one and all of the sudden it's a bad deal.

I hope he sticks around for a long time, the game will get better under his leadership.

He just needs some time to establish himself, I think you're right, he'll be good for the game.

Cue the the early 1990's AFL and Club Financial reports.

Brisbane melbourne and the warriors are the only teams without leagues clubs so i guess that not too bad really..

the rest of the teams have leagues clubs which make up for the loss in revenue ..
