And?

Keep racking up number 1 pick selfish mids and we'll keep being shit.

There's a bit in this I reckon.

Our side is stacked with guys who are used to being the cream and dominating on the attacking end on successful teams. When they need to apply themselves defensively and work hard for no reward, it's a mostly foreign concept.

I think this is why giving chances to state league guys can be so valuable. They know what it's like to work hard, not have everything come easily and will do anything to earn the respect of the coach and teammates by playing unsung roles in the team.

The solution to our side really isn't losing a game 2 years ago and getting Reid instead of Mckercher - that'd be lthe same issue in a different body.

Yep. If I don't do the selfless things I get dropped. If the best player in my team doesn't he might get a speaking to, but they ain't dropping him for it.

No until Watt, Sonja, al clarko and Rawlings leave and the other hangers on we will continue to plunge futher into the abyss.

I think we're too scared to piss off players by dropping someone like Zurhaar. He's clearly got strong relationships with guys like Larkey and LDU - particularly with the LDU contract up in the air over the last year.

And then there's the potential of guys like Duursma, Powell and Mckercher looking for a way out if we don't cater for them or treat them too harshly.

Feels like we might be walking on eggshells with these either high draft picks, or players who have been around for a while and have strong relationships with other players.

There's also the fact that our list lacks depth and there's only so many options.

Another 3 win season and the AFL vultures will be at the door. How long will the supporters give the benefit of the doubt and cough up hard earned for this? This type of situation isn't club-sustaining for another 5 years.
On the brigher side we might get another couple of 2nd rounders we have to trade for a hack like log.

History shows that the elite mids usually come from the top end of the draft.

Our issue has really come from the drafting in the later rounds of the draft especially in 2nd round.

Listening to Hoyney on 3AW on the commute home, he said we have won 9 out of our last 80 games which is the worst record of any team across 80 games since 1967.

As bad as that is I genuinely don’t believe we’re at rock bottom, I honestly think it’s going to get worse before it gets better.

For those interested, from 1963-1968 Fitzroy went 14 wins and 96 losses in a 110 game stretch.

That's the record we are trying to outrun.
So we need 6 wins in 30 games, given where we're at I can't see us pulling that off.
