I don’t think this is rock bottom. We’ve shown more upside than previous years.

However i do think tales of our arrival as anything other than a bottom side are hyperbole.

From next week in the following 6 weeks we’d want to be winning 4+ games.

Scientifically speaking, nothing is ever beating the WC loss in 2023, so in that sense the thread should be locked.

But the emotional bog is pretty taxing. We've had so many thrashings that we struggle to cope with a single one now, let alone three. Or six or seven, as will be the case by the end of the year. And nor should we. The quota has been exhausted. Permanently.

Go, you team of frauds

West Coast would be going into next week as favourites, surely? They beat 2 of the last 3 times and our last 2 wins over them have been soley due to their inaccuracy

As someone unconvinced preseason we would be anything other than stuck in the bottom 2/3 I think we've shown enough to say we are undoubtedly better than that purely due to our ceiling.

Our floor though is incredibly low though and will probably see us finish in the 11-14 range.

I'm a little concerned our next phase will be as flat track bullies rather than a well rounded team though.

I absolutely expect this to be the case.

The next step in our development will be to be this.

Whether we can take it any further than that is yet to be seen.

When I see the trajectory of teams like Melbourne I worry a bit for when we do finally emerge into the light. Yes they managed to win a flag but for all their years of shitness they never really got going for a prolonged period and always seemed to have a few lingering mental scars with a bit of an underbelly.

We've been shitter for longer so I don't take that as a great sign about the potential mental fortitude of our players going forward.

I have some faith in the cohort of players starting at the Sheez year, that they have the drive to be the best. That they can form the core of a side that elevates itself.

We are 5 or so years from them being truly senior players.

For so long we’ve been wandering around in the dark. There is light at the end of this tunnel that we can see but we’re not yet out of the tunnel.

Yes it was the number 1 team, but margin wise that was the largest loss of the 2020-2026 era after the Bulldogs game in 2021.

5 years later into the rebuild and we are still copping losses like that. Simply unacceptable.

I'm just so tired of the humiliation rituals we get put through as supporter base.

I think that the Carlton and Gold Coast games showed how well we can play, when we can play the game on our terms under minimal pressure. Sadly, any half decent team will not let us do that. And once our midfield gets dominated, we're goners.
Yep. There isn't a team out there that doesn't know that if you turn the screws on North we'll fold.
I think in game thread someone said late in first qtr that Freo's pressure was way down at around 140 and what might happen if it picked up.
Well....
