I am a huge fan of this 19 year old kid, and the way he has developed this summer against the best batting lineup in the world has been extraordinary.

He is quick, gets good bounce, can move the ball both ways and can reverse swing the old ball miles.

Probably produce the ball of the summer to bowl Hayden in Adelaide, and seems to be getting better with every game. The aggot to knock over Hopes in Brisbane recently was also an absolute pearler.

I know he is still only young, but this kid has the potential to develop into one of the world's best quicks. Just has something about him that stands out... hard to believe he is only 19.

Anyone else agree?

yep agree he looks good,he's only young still got a lot to learn lets hope he keep on getting better. and stays in their side they have afew other bowlers that might put him out in tests, but he should be in their one day side

Yep, absolute gun.

To think he probably wouldn't have played had it not been for Z Kahns injury.

But it will be tough to hold a spot with all of their fast bowlers fit.

Bill is going to run out of the commentary box and shag his brains out if he takes another wicket in this series.
Settle Bill,he's might be just another flash in the pan Indian that won't be seen again in 2 or 3 months.

Does tend to happen with cricketers from the sub continent. Hopefully the young fella can stay around for a bit.

Good bowler but can't say I like him. Seems like an A-grade knob.

Will be interesting to see his whereabouts when India tour next.

Remember everyone saying the same thing about Pathan when he toured down here in 2003 and had some successs - he then went missing seemingly for the next 3 years.

This is the reason why cricketers such as Tait and now Vincent are currently suffering from depression-like illnesses. A player has a bit of success and all of a sudden people are saying "player X is the next big thing".

Sometimes its best if people just keep a lid on things.

Absolute gun. India always seem to unearth at least one quality young quick whenever they tour Australia.

Last time it was Pathan, this time it's Sharma. Let's hope Sharma is a little more consistent than Sharma.

Quality?

He reminds me of agarker (Sp), 1 game in 20 player if i ever saw one.

More hit and miss then a world war 2 german machine gun.

Bollocks. He's 23 and at least as promising as a Tait or Johnson.

A test hat-trick and the fact he's had an excellent series this series would suggest that you're wrong. He had one poor year in his International career. That doesn't mean he has one good game in twenty.

It's getting old.

It's getting old.

Im not saying his not talented. Hardly the case at all. I'm just saying last time he toured people were saying he was the next gun, and then he went missing.

Key words here people are "potential to develop into"... nobody is saying he is a world beater at the moment.

Most impressive part of his summer is how he has learned and consistently improved, which is incredible considering the limited amount of FC cricket he has played.

Do we have a 19 year old quick with this sort of potential?

Yeah Agreed.
He hardly went missing for 3 years. Just because you only watch players when they come to Australia doesn't mean they went missing.

Mate, I think not, he's one out of the box.
He's got a great cricket cricket brain and seems to be getting quicker.
He got carted by Hayden today, but came back and rolled him in his next over.
Not many players can do that.
IShant Sharma will be around for years to come.

Looks to be a player, no doubt about it...seems to be pretty confident too (read: borderline cocky, but not in a tool kind of way) which is good to see in a young bloke who has taken it right up to the best team in the world :thumbsu:

IMO he is the best young prospect to have toured Australia in a long long time.

The entire Indian attack was probably the best to have toured Australia since the Windies in the 1992/93 series.

Quality quicks - Zaheer Khan, RP Singh, Ishant Sharma and Irfan Pathan. They covered the loss of Zaheer very easily. And Sreesanth was out injured and he is a more than handy...

And then the quality spin of Kumble and Harbhajan....

There aren't too many teams which can say they have 7 genuine world class bowlers, two of which are very young (RP Singh is 22 and Sharma 19) and still developing...

Reminds me a lot of Shane Bond - let's hope he doesn't suffer the same sorts of injuries.

Just thing about it a bit more the thing they do lack in the pace department is a genuine match winner.

whilst they are all quality bowlers, there is no one who is an absolute top class bowler... Whilst you can't expect bowlers to develop into the next Wasim Akram, GLenn McGrath or Allan Donald they do need one of them to stand up as the leader with an average down towards 25 or 26 mark.

Currently Sreesanth's average is 29, Pathan 31, Khan 32, Singh 33 and Sharma 45.... whilst the first four are very handy and Sharma is a huge talent IMO they don't have a genuine match winning quick.

Sharma at only 19 looks a real possibility though - most quicks don't peak until far beyond then.

Gun. Dizzy clone too when he was at his peak. Similar height, action hair the lot. All of this and only 19. Natural for him to come back to earth but the way he bowls from his height at 145km/hr, a bit more experience and strength and he could crack 150....and at his height that is very hard to play. Damn good prospect.
