Can we call it defensive if we're leaking a heap of goals in the first half? It's not that its defensive, it's that its completely non-offensive.

Almost all of our kick ins in the first half were short little kicks to the back pocket where we held the ball up for ages and then slowly went down the wing, just trying to maintain possession. Then all of a sudden we went straight down the middle and scored a goal. We never looked at that option before.

Now usually I'd think that the players were just told to be brave and take the game on but there's something at play here. There was clearly two different game styles in the JLT. The Brisbane, Essendon and West Coast games looked similar.

We need to ditch whatever we are trying to do in the first half and just go for it.

They also score heavilly against us because they get so many easy lose posessions, turnovers as we kick to out numbered forwards, once they have possesion they can run it free and pick us apart as we are all over the place

I thought the turning point today was the Jake Neade tackle, to take the ball ourt, late in the second quarter when it was a 3-1 contest.

That and about a dozen other Jake Neade tackles, and absolute desperation by him to get the job done. I went riiiiiiiiiiiiight off Neadey quite a while ago, but if he played like that every week, he'd be close to first-picked.

Our cleanness with the ball seemed to pick up in the second half which I thought made the difference as it limited the turnovers. If Ken changed tactics in the second half he needs to abandon the first half tactics. But I think the players won this one.. maybe despite Ken.

The first half wasn't that bad. I have just finished watching it. I look forward to having Marshall back and our new recruits properly settling in and gelling with the team which could still take some time. Our midfield could be something else from what I observed tonight.

I don't think Macca is saying that we're the finished product - far from it. But it's something we can draw confidence from, and later in the year, we may look back to May 12 as being the date our season turned for the better.

I wish I could believe tgat tgis is the start of a turn around but the game went exactly to our averages this year.

We are rated 14th in the league for 1st, 2nd and 4th quarters. We are rated 2nd in the league for for 3rd quarters.

Last night we only won the 3rd quarter. To me, nothing was really different.

We were actually lucky the crows didn't capitalise on our ineptness in the first half, they should have been up by 50.

With that said, I am hopeful that a close win in a showdown will get this team performing from the start of games.

Most of Robbie’s goals where the end result of good team play, it doesn’t have to be Robbie kicking 6 but any of our high skilled forwards staying in range to convert.
