It's All About Pressure...

Seems The Tigers have had the same root cause for mediocrity for years now...

Unable to put sufficient pressure on the other team/players and certainly unable to withstand any pressure coming the other way.

Even before the ball was bounced last night, the build-up, the hype, you could just sense that we were staining ourselves. Same thing in other "important" games recently... our 100 year game last year, the game against The Crows last year... folded like a deck of cards against the Dogs in the final 5 minutes last year...

Every time there is any sort of expectation or "line-in-the-sand" game or moment we just dont have the ****ing testicles!

Sure we can play pretty good footy sometimes but it is usually in "non-crunch" games or against less physical teams.

Carlton simply gave us no time to adjust our knobs last night so every disposal, every decission, every thought was rushed, forced and panicked.
Alternatively, most of the time when they had the ball we were so under the pump and on the back foot that we chased their arses all over the park.

Sure our skills were deplorable last night but I am told that at training we are silky and sublime most of the time so that simply shows our mental game folded like a pack of cards. (Lids choking on 2 kick-ins, missed shots at goal & the countless dropped marks and fumbles show real panic IMO)

So whats the answer?

Can you teach or coach "coolness" and confidence and toughness or are we "blessed" with a team that we love and will always support but unfortunately who are basically soft!

TOO HARSH???????????????????????????????????????????

you can but you need a teacher who can teach, not an a teacher who cant, but who can spin to all that he can....get the picture? ;)

Its a good thread. We lack mental toughness and character.

Archer said it last year on footy classified. Whenever you apply a bit of pressure on Richmond, you know they'll fold. Every team, every year.
