If the team comes out against the bulldogs and puts in another shitful effort to go with the first round, after "putting" in against the cats for a quarter and a bit, then i would suggest the neon light on the exit door, will be flashing brightly, "THIS WAY TW, THANKS FOR COMING BUT NO MORE"!!!!!!
If there is genuine apathy amongst the group re. TW's game plan etc then i would suggest they show it again so we can move on quick...i am sick and tired of the same old shit with this team. 5 years on and its like we are back in the first year with the same pattern. ;)

I find the perception that we only tried for a quarter against the best team going around and yet managed to lose by just 3 goals a very interesting one.

not as ****en interesting that the Cats average winning margin at ohme is 48 points and average wining margin in last 4 v the tiges is >80 points...very ****en interesting indeed:eek:

what is even more ****ing interesting is that if all this is so ****ing interesting, then if we play 2 quarters of footy agains the dogs, then we should win by about 3 to 5 goals.
Now of course if we come out and play no quarters of footy, they will blow us away like they have in the past. Then what will be the ****ing interesting thing, will be is who will coach us against the dees.
I am not saying its on, but if the players are over TW and his plans and shit, then it will happen.
IMO, that first round wasnt anything to do with stage fright, shit fright, we were mugged and all that shit that they throw up as excuses for a professional team of footballers who have played in pressure matches before. ;)

who cares how interesting anything is ... we lost, becuase we couldnt put together 4 quarters of intense, top level football.

Yes we are capable of putting together patches of brilliance. But it doesnt mean anything unless you can do it consistently for entire matches. Consistent good footy is what gets you to and wins you finals.

How many AFL players have had that dirty word "potential" and showed glimpses, dined off that for a few years and then never taken the next step. A countless amount. Potential amounts for nothing until its converted into consistent good performance. Right now all we have is potential. Terry's time is nearing so its now or never for him to convert that potential into something. If he cant, he'll be shown the door.

The clock reads 5 minutes to midnight Terry .... tick tick tick.

We lost because they are the best team in the league and we are not. Not because we didn't ****ing put in enough. If anyone honestly thinks we only worked for a quarter and still managed to get that close, then they must have an incredibly high view of our list. And the people who are saying it definitely do not have a high view of our list, which makes what they are saying pretty ****ing interesting.

i agree... f**k if we played only one quarter and nearly upset the best team over the last 2 years, a team that has only lost 3 games in that time then I am over the moon.... imagine we play 2 quarters, or even 3?? We'd be unbeatable!!

lets put it this way whatever you "honestly" think, have a an honest think abu the following, you might just wake up:

Up until half time the scoring shots were 17-6 there way.
The 3rd quarter they went 12-5 our way.
Then the last went 8-2 there way.

they had 10 more scroing shots, we were accurate in our scoring and they werent.
So where do you suggest you have any semblance of creidiblity, when suggesting we didnt play 1 quarter of footy? ;)

Geelong had a load more scoring shots.

Could've been real nasty after the first quarter.

We blew it,simple as that.

Last quarter was terrible.

North gave it to the end against the Dogs.

Let's see what we've got?

ok while you're talking about their missed goals cause they did have a few, lets also talk about the double goal, the 50 mt penalties that resulted in their goals.

I think they got at least 4-5 direct from frees or 50's that were 50/50 at best.

A couple of things:

1) You judge a quarter on more than just scoring shots.

2) To build on point 1, how well we did in a given quarter on the scoreboard is not necessarily relative to our effort.

And, whilst I'm aware that you rarely answer questions that are directly aimed at you, and so probably won't answer this one, I'll give it a shot. Do you realise, that if we only put in for one quarter as you are suggesting, that if we actually bothered to try for the entirety of a match we would be 100 points better than the nearest side in the league? Can you not see how ridiculous that is?

Yes that is completely ridiculous. You see what you lose sight of is how much putting in the opposition does. I mean, they were doing it in a canter against a far inferior opposition. They lost their way, when Ottens went down, we took advantage of their re-structuring problems, but once they got a handle on the structure once again, they blew us away like we werent there in the last.
Man you really need to take the rose coloured glasses off sometimes.
Lets just ask this of you: Lets say the boot was on the other foot, we lose Simmo and they dont lose Ottens....we would have been sitting with 20% right now. ;)

You made a total ars of yourself last time you did this and then we beat Hawthorn. And you were too scared to come back on the board the following week you tosser.

You're just begging for us to lose this week.

We should have beaten the dogs last season and this time round we will. And you'll sook about it again.

Get behind the club.

How many teams have the ability to put 4 quarters of brilliance week in, week out?

Answer: no one.

To expect it from a Richmond side, let alone a Geelong one, is just plain fantasy.

The aim is to reduce the gap between our best and worst quarters and have a better consistency in not being allowed to get dominated off the park.

To expect to win every quarter we play by 6 goals is unrealistic.

:)

oh FFS, you fool. All i am saying is that if there is any underlying problems in the club, it will surface this week. Thats all i am saying.
We get blown away and we will know.
Man, you are total ****ing idiot. Who the **** said anything about wanting to lose you ****wit?
Whats this goodie tow shoes shit, with get behind the club...what do you think all the memebers do, year in year out shit for brains?
Those who know me know how much i bleed for this team at games....i firmly believe he has enough cattle on the list to make top 4. Thats why i am pissed off with this farting around and making excuses shit.
He cant get a team up for big games. He can only get them up when he has either an opponent who is an also ran or if we have been blown away.
They showed us what they can do if they are on. Now if they dont come to the party and are on against the bullies, then to me its a ****ing sign...to you its all turns to shit after it enters that stupid skull of yours. ;)

1. Which excuses are you talking about?
2. We beat Hawthorn late last year.

1 stage fright.
2. dead rubber. We beat Hawthorn but we needed to beat lesser lights in bigger games when once again, TW failed to get the players up for big games against the crows and the swans...the end. He has NFI how to rally the players.
The crows game in particular was a carbon copy of the 1st round, total and utter capitulation. Nothingness to the max, the coach couldnt fire any rockets. We were in with a half chance against the tankers just before half time. We hadnt played any footy, put on a comedy act and with 10 to go we get the next and we are 3 down. We didnt, we went in at the big break 4 to 5 down.. Now after a totally shitful display of ineptitude for a half, and with the door just ajar, you tell me how a coach cant get a team, who supposedly has stage fright and all that shit, up and firing for a second half? Go on einstein? He cant...The same happened on the weekend. How can a team tear their way back and then go down without a yelp? Has anyone asked TW what his stirring speech was at 3/4 time and what effect that had? ;)

The Hawthorn game was far from a dead rubber. Winning it gave us a chance of making the finals - losing would make it mathematically impossible to make them.

There is a similar theme when faced by situations where we can win, but don't play like it...

* up by 19 points against Bulldogs last year with 5 minutes to go - didn't win
* big match Rd1 against Carlton, expected to do very well, even win - thrashed
* Lead by seven points early in the last quarter against Cats - lost again

Probably a few more examples in last 12 months (Saints, Blues last year). But then beating the Hawks late last year was an exception.

It's like We suffer from the old "rabbit in the headlights" theory.

The question... is this due to:
1) a game plan that doesn't suit the players we put on the park?
2) a game plan that the players are not comfortable with, and don't want to play?
3) a young side mixed with older players used to losing, which lacks confidence and poise in such situations?

Maybe all of the above?

I fear that Cogga *may* be right, and that some players (eg. JB) have let slip recently that (2) is the applicable question ... but I hope this is not the case.

IMO, it is a combination of small amounts of all of the above, and some tinkering over the next few weeks will help fine tune the team.

* picking the right team based on ability, form and attitude
* not asking too much of the players based on their ability... at times, "keep it simple stupid". For eg, fouth qtr against Cats, we were tired and could have reverted to a more conventional forward line structure, just get the ball deep in our fwd line quick as possible, and fight to score and/or keep it down there,
* introduction of suitable rookies (eg. Rance) who are ready to be played, and don't know about the losing culture.

Probably the same 3/4 time speech every other coach who has lost to Geelong in the last two years has given. Is "Einstein" the new "dude?"

:)A BIG part of the reason we beat Hawthorn was TW decided to play both Connors and Polo and both performed exceptionally!!!:thumbsu:

Going in to round 21, it was a possibility that we would make the finals as a result of the win against Hawthorn the round before. Nothing wet dreamy about that.

I think he's saying it was a dead rubber as far as hawthorn were concerned. They weren't going to be headed by the bulldogs, top 2 was safe and thus they were on auto pilot waiting for the real stuff.
